Hi,

I just got a marlin 795. I have some aperture sights from tech-sights on order but in the mean time I was trying to sight it in at 25 yards using the stock open sights:

My question, is there any way to adjust these for windage? My groups were tight at 25 yards (< 1") but they were about 4" to the right from a bench rest. I need to adjust for that if I can. I can't find anything in the instructions. Suggestions are appreciated.

take a screwdriver, flat blade, put on the side toward the front, of the rear doevtail sight, and tap the screwdriver once, with a hammer, about 1/16 of an inch, to the left. shoot a few more rounds, you may even wanno put a couple drops of oil on that rear site, so it can more easily move within the dovetail. you can even use a pencil to mark the right side of the bbl, next to the rear site, so you can see how far it moves once you hit it. You will either have to lay the rifle down, on a towel, on it's left side and do this, or if you have a vice, line it with a thick towel, then close the rifle in the vice.

oh yeah, try these ammos;
anything wolf
anything eley
anything cci
anything federal
anything winchester
anything aguila(which is eley)
anything golden eagle(which is eley)
american eagle, geometric pic of eagle, on a red box, made by federal.
no cci bulk.
anything bulk by federal or winchester.
NEVER ANY REMMINGTON AMMO, unless it is orange box or yellow box
which is also made by eley. all other remmy ammo is suckmeister-stinkanus
to the max, and is so poorly made as to make china laugh at it's poor quality.
the real sleeper here is allways the same almost for all 22 rifles;
the american eagle ammo made by federal. usually the cheapest ammo
out there, and becuase of it's flat base, usually incredibly accurate out to 80 to 100 yards. After that , flat base bullets in 22 cal, will totally lose their
accuracy.

Thanks for the replies.

The screwdriver and hammer method seemed to work.

On the ammo front I shot 100 rounds of winchester super X. I had one Failure to extract on shot #8, but otherwise the rifle functioned properly. Groups were good, 1" at 25 yard, aside from being 4" offset.

you would think cci ammo would be the best of all ammo; after all, ATK industries has been making rocket fuel, booster/main fire rockets, and the booster rockets for the space shuttles. To me, with cci bulk, it is just not as good as getting their individual boxes, and is fairly dirty.

A screwdriver?
Ah come on! :what:

Shirley you jest!

Use a brass, nylon, or wood punch if you don't want to scratch the bluing off your brand new gun.
