Haven't seen a recent topic on this, but would like options/opinions on affordable ($350 or less) 9mm handguns, preferably with double stacked magazines that could be concealed.

Ruger Security 9, S&W SD 9, Canik TP9 DA, EAA Witness Polymer are some of things I have been reading about and watching videos on.

I'm not sure if hammer fired or striker fired matters to me.

Don't rule out the SAR BP6C. Mine has been totally reliable and very accurate.
I could be talked into a CZ 75 clone pretty easily I think. Do you happen to know the difference between the SAR BP6 C and the SAR K2? Both have 3.8 inch long barrels but the K2 is about 5 ounces heavier K2 have a steel frame?

Edit: K2 has longer grip and a rail

Check AIM surplus or the others for police trade in M&P, Glock, SIG. barring that any of your choices will likely be good. I've seen good results from Canik at matches. They seem to be great for the money.

SCCY - CPX 9mm, I know nothing about them other than they fit the description of what you are looking for.
If you can up your budget by $100-$150 it would give you many more options to choose from.

The good news is there are lots of options out there these days. Police trade ins etc.

M&Ps are a fine option.

Ruger has a couple as you mentioned that fit your budget. I haven't handled any of those. Haven't handled any of the CZ75 clones either.

Police trade-in and military surplus pistols tend to be the best bargains, in my experience. I bought one of the full-sized M&P's from Kings (see links above) for $250 plus shipping and FFL. It was something like $271 OTD. It's in nice condition and came with four mags.

I own two full-sized Witness polymers. They are both very nice pistols and good shooters. C75 offshoots are my favorite service pistols. I got mine for about $250 apiece, gently used.

The last brand-new pistol I bought was a Taurus PT111 Generation 2, or whatever they're called. I think it was last Spring. My BiL loves his and carries it everywhere. I like my Glock just a little bit better. The Taurus has a slightly odd (but not stiff) trigger. Mine has been completely reliable. This model of Taurus has a good reputation for reliability, from what I've heard. It is the same size as the Glock 26. I can use the same holsters, even. I paid around $225 for mine, because I paid extra to get stainless. The blued finish wears easily.

My preferred double-stack 9mm CC pistol is my Glock 26. It took some patience and 2-3 months of stalking them on Gunbroker, but it was around $350 OTD, IIRC. It can accept the magazine from a Glock 19, which is a nice feature. For $5 or so you can get a little plastic sleeve from Amazon the goes on the magazine and covers the little gap between the butt and the end of the mag. I used that mag as my "reload" when I went on a cross-country trip last summer.

Let us know what you choose and how you like it! :)

If you can live with a thumb safety (though a well placed and easy to use, IMO) on a striker gun, the Ruger SR9 is still available for under $300 it looks like.

Had the compact (SR9c) for a few years and it was a phenomenal gun for the price.

Edit: just saw the concealed bit. The you'll want to look at the SR9c. Mine was stupid accurate for such a small gun. Glock like trigger but better than any of my Glocks. O only sold it because someone wanted it and I was consolidating my striker fired guns into Glock and also owned a Glock 26 already, though the Ruger is smaller IIRC.

I like getting a good deal, appreciate good value and am not a gun snob. However, for my carry firearm, I don't select it based upon a cost limit. I select it based upon reliability, features, reputation and test firing if possible. Just a different philosophy, not necessarily a better one. Also, I prefer pocket carry. :D

Ditto on the SR9C, one of the best semi-auto's Ruger made. Much better than the stuff they are coming out with now. Great build quality, Mild shooting, and underpriced at around $330.00 brand New. 17 round magazine on the SR9C. Plus Ruger warranty.

The Sig P2022 is a lot of gun for the money. You'd have to buy used at that price point.

There is a reason the S&W Shields and Springfield XD's are so popular. You can usually pick up a used one in great condition for an excellent price. The best gun for you is going to be the one that fits your hand the best and is the most comfortable for you to shoot... you have a lot of great guns to choose from.

I love my Kahr CM9... but it is a single stack. The CM9 size and weight makes for a pretty easy to conceal gun... with a nice trigger to boot! With extended mags it is a fun easy to shoot gun at the range. Same with my Xd mod 2 and Xds... extended mags for comfortable shooting at the range and short mags for easy concealability.

I carry a S&W shield in 45, i like the size but it is only a single stack mag the M&Pc feels good also. My wife carries a SCCY 9mm and she is pleased with it and it has a good reputation around here, it runs less than 200.00 when on sale.

I would rather have a used M&P or Glock than a new Ruger, SD9, etc type of pistol. Just my personal preference. You could check out some police trade in options. Smith also runs rebates quite a bit that can drop the price of a new M&P down to a real reasonable level. You could buy a new Shield under your budget if you are willing to go to a single stack.

I'll attest to the Kel Tec 9s, as I've owned a P-11 and currently carry a PF-9. They're simple, sturdy, and inexpensive. My P11 only cost me 260 plus tax, and my PF9 just a smudge more eight years later.
I also got to handle and shoot an SCCY and it seemed virtually identical, just a lot more colorful.
They have their faults, long and heavy DAO triggers, but that's also a feature, and pretty much worthless past 15 yards IMHO. But I trust mine enough it rides with me pretty much all the time, so if that helps.

While it is a single stack, I am surprised that no one has mentioned the R51.

I've only dry-fired the SCCY CPX-2 but I was impressed with the trigger. Much like a DAO revolver: long but smooth pull. Seemed very good for such a cheap gun. I know someone on another forum who bought one last Spring and really likes it. If they made a similar gun in single-stack, I'd probably buy one for pocket carry.

I had a similar response to dry-firing the Ruger Security 9: good for that price point. (I am kind of a revolver guy, so I like a long DA pull.) If I didn't already have the largish 9 mm bottom feeder niche filled, I'd seriously consider that one.

I have a S&W SD 9. I don't reload for it but it has handled every brand of ammo I've put in it so far. Although everything has had 115 gr bullets and it's all been the cheapest I can find. It has a double stack mag.

If you like striker-fired, maybe the CZ P-10? Last summer a guy asked me to shoot a few rounds from his over my chrono. It seemed pretty sweet. I guess that's a little over your price point.

A couple of affordable 9mm.s that come to mind are the Ruger Security 9 at just under $300 and the Ruger SR9c, blued slide for $309 or with a stainless slide for $324. I have the SR9c and it has one of the best triggers on a striker fired gun that I have come across. Sights line up quick and easy, it's well suited for concealed carry, and the gun just feels right in my hand.
