Age of my Model 10

Greeting Everyone,
I just joined today. I have a question that has probably been asked 100's of times. My Dad recently gave me a S&W Model 10 that he got used in the mid '60s. The sn is six digits. The first two numbers are 37. It has a half moon shaped front sight and a hammer block. If anyone could give an estimated age, I'd be very greatful.

I amy be wrong, since I don't have access to my SCSW at present, but I believe that you are going to need to post more of the serial number. Is it marked "Mod 10" inside the crane? Is there a "dash" number (i.e. Mod 10-2)?
 
The number on the inside of the crane (on the frame when the cylinder is open) is not the serial number, but a factory manufacturing number.

The serial number is on the bottom of the grip frame. You may have to remove the grips to see it. It'll have a letter in the first or second place in the serial number. Like K123456
 
According to SCSW, for Model 10 serial numbers begin with C 1948 through 1968 and D through 1977.
 
It sounds to me like you have a Model of 1905 4th Change (also known as a M&P or Military and Police Revolver) manufactured in the 1920's. This revolver became the Model 10 in 1957, with the designation of Model numbers.

Does it have a lanyard swivel on the butt? What kind of finish?
