I received this can of powder from a friend who got it in a box at an auction. The top and bottom are tin and the rest is cardboard and paper. The lid is just pressed into a hole in the top. I haven't opened it to smell of it yet but the can is in great shape.

Does anyone have an idea what year it is from??

Well, for sure older then 1967 when zip-codes became mandatory on addresses!

I remember those cans, but I can't put a positive date on it.
Probably late 50's / early 60's.

Thanks, I am thinking about shooting some, that is if it looks good and smells okay.

Check for rust inside the top & bottom of the can.

If the powder is breaking down, there will most likely be rust inside.

Funny!!!! I've got a pound of Hodgdon's rifle powder H450 in a red with white lettering that looks the same.
Price was $2.50 !!!
Don't think it's ever been opened-----cardboard is still pretty stiff and no rust on the outside.
I "might" try it out,if I can find any loading data for 223 or 308
