Ruger makes a bewildering range of GP 100s with variable grip configuration, barrel lengths and lug shapes. They've been pretty accomidating to us GP 100 likers and there is really no excuse- but we have come up with a couple more we would like them to make:

An 8" Short Shroud GP with scope rings

Both look like great ideas.

Incidentally, while these pics seem to be B&W, I'd want the new GP100 variants to look exactly like this in the flesh -- in other words, stainless with the gray-toned wood grip inserts, like on the SRH Hunters.

Looks better.

The short shroud GP looks great. Add in a 2.75 inch version too.

I would settle for a 6-shot .44 Special. Surely they could drop some of the sillier products for a real tool...

8 inch short shroud GP-100? I have lusted for such an animal ever since I bought my full shroud 6 incher. The 8 would be great for hunters who prefer the 357. With fast and medium buring powders, there is little velocity gain with barrels over 5 or 6 inches, but with slow burning powders there is more complete combustion with an 8 inch barrel.

Exactly as you say. I had a 7.5" .357 bisley that gained little or nothing with light loads but was amazing with the old 40-47,000 psi ww 296 loads that the handbooks were were listing at the time. It was an engine of distruction.

They are also making the GP-100 in the Target Grey finish in 4" although it doesn't have the grey grip inserts. I've got one and love it. I want to put th esmaller grip on it and get the grey inserts as well.
