Anyone have experience with Ahlman's of Morristown Minnesota? The reason I ask: Last night I had the opportunity to shoot a S&W 617 that had action work done by Ahlman's. The trigger was remarkable ; approx 9# in da (and this is a rimfire mind you ...) , 2.5# sa , so smooth it felt hydraulic. Probably the best double action trigger I have handled. The owner informed me that the cost was reasonable and turnaround was prompt.

I have a m. 36 no dash flat latch Chiefs Special that is a bit gritty in reset ; I'm thinking of getting it improved.

Ahlman's , anyone?

Yes, more so with ordering parts for the gun shop I worked at than service, but I talked to the staff enough to know they know their stuff. You won't be disappointed.

Great shop and will treat you right. Think I bought 2 guns from them.

I've bought several guns there--and I live a good hour and a half away. They have an event in August that attracts thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of folks. They have several full-time gunsmiths and several thousand firearms in stock. Always worth the trip.

I live in northern Mn and having two sons (out of five) who have done business with Ahlman's, hearing their reports, they get an A+.
Must get there some day, have never heard anything negative about them.
Lotsa guns.
The boys (men) said to plan on spending some time there, you will not regret it!

I know some of the staff personally and they are polite, helpful, and definitely know their stuff.
I make the vast majority of my firearm purchases there.
Worth the drive.

Thanks to all who chimed in. I have heard nothing but good reviews about Ahlman's. My 36 flat latch will be heading there soon.

I had a H&R Ultra Slug Hunter that seemed to rust if I just looked at it. So, I took it to Ahlman's for the Duracoat routine. I'm beyond happy with the work they did. So, I took my M70 in .270 win to them to be bedded. The rifle is much more consistent after the work, and the slug gun doesn't rust.

Thank you for that input.
My Chiefs Special and a quirky little Beretta 418 .25 are en route to Ahlman's. I'll share the results when the time comes.
