I've been on a real grip addiction streak lately, and I find that I want some nice wood grips for my BHP that are similar to the factory "thumbrest" grips. Looking at pictures around the intrawebs, I see some that look GREAT.

They're Ahrends' grips... but he doesn't make BHP grips anymore, apparently. What gives? Does anybody know why he stopped making them, and about when he stopped?

:banghead: Apparently finding the perfect HP grips is like finding the Holy Grail.

Can't tell about Ahrends, but have you tried those Cocobolo Heretts? They look gorgeous and have a slight palm swell.

Well, I went and did it... I bought some Esmeralda grips. :uhoh: :D

They're beautiful.

You people are really annoying!! In 40 years of playing with guns I've never had any interest in fancy grips. Then conan comes along with Esmeralda's web address and bang, I spring for 1911 grips in spalted maple.

The internet makes it too easy.

Well, I know the feeling.

I've been drooling at her website for a long time, but that pair of grips always jumped out at me. I brought her page up a few days ago to find that it was the last set of BHP grips available -- the ones I wanted, even! -- and I just couldn't let them get away.

I'll post some pictures of them on the gun shortly. ;)

HammerBite, you're not included in my support group to help me get over my addiction to wood grips. I posted a thread on the revolver section yesterday about spalted maple for my stainless revolvers. Of course, I looked at Esmeralda's 1911 grips and was tempted to get a pair for my stainless SIG GSR Revolution. Aren't they absolutely gorgeous? I emailed her about offering spalted maple for K and N-frame revolvers. Congratulations on your new grips.

It brings me great pleasure to know that I have contributed to your sickness.

In your revolver thread you mentioned you have a J-frame. Take a peek at Esmeralda's J-frame grips. She is listing two sets in Andean alder, which looks a great deal like spalted maple.
