I’m working on this tikka build. Right now the stock is bare and I’m test fitting before I go to paint. It has a CDI bottom metal that takes AI mags.

Now as I try to put in the AI mag, the magazine hits the rifle receiver before it can go far enough to lock in the mag catch. Any ideas? I don’t think taking it apart for the 17th time is going to solve the problem anymore. I’d prefer to not have to bed the bottom metal if I don’t have to

I don't see a trigger on your action. The trigger fit in the DBM will give you a clue about how the bottom metal is sitting in relation to the action. I'll bet you will need to bed the bottom metal.
If the trigger is sitting correctly in the tg, you have a choice of fitting the magazines or the mag release. If you have multiple magazines, fit the mag release.

I removed the trigger to eliminate variables. It was hitting it slightly so I had to remove material from the aluminum trigger housing. Even with the trigger removed the magazine is getting hung up
