I really like my Aimpoint CompML3 2MOA on my DSA FAL rifle.

However, I'd like to improve my longer range (100 yards+) shooting with a little magnification. I was thinking the Aimpoint 3x magnifier would be a logical choice.

I like the idea of the twist mount. However, how do I know if the height of the twist mount will match the height of my current Aimpoint mount? I have a really low ARMS throw-lever mount for the Aimpoint. I guess I could just get another of the same mount and use it for the magnifier, too. The throw lever is not going to be as quick and easy as the twist mount, however.

Anyone have any experience with the magnifiers, and mounting them?

Thanks.

I think most of those mounts are built for use on the AR15 with its inline stock. The FAL stock has a drop to it and the sights are mounted pretty low to the receiver so I imagine that most of those mounts are going to be too high for a FAL.

You might talk to somebody like Mark Larue at Larue Tactical though about a dedicated mount for that purpose. I know he occasionally does some custom stuff. I also hear his plate if pretty full though.

That's kind of what got me concerned to begin with. The ARMS mount I am using has the Aimpoint really low, and it's a good position for an Aimpoint on an FAL.

If I have to I'll just use another ARMS mount - it's still a quick detach mount but not as quick as the twist and flip down mounts.

I'd looked at the Samson mount - they show it being used with the high cantilever mount for the Aimpoint. On the FAL a high mount doesn't work too well, IMO - my Aimpoint is mounted very low.

I may have to just get another low ARMS mount and ring mount the 3x magnifier. It's at least a quick release base.

I've been down this road.

The Samson #Quick_Flip-S from Talon Arms will line up with your ARMS #22M68.
