I have never mounted a scope on a rifle before. I just purchased the Aimpoint Comp ML2 with a weaver ring. I am curious about how tight I should tighten the screws that hold the scope tube in the ring? I do not want to damage the tube and I assume you can over tighten it? How do you know when it is tight enough?

Thanks,
Dave

FWIW, I made mine "hand tight", which seems to serve the purpose well enough without damage. It hasn't worked loose in nearly a year of shooting it every other week.

I use an allen wrench and tighten the ring until I can't turn it any more using the short end of the wrench.
Yes, you can overtighten optic or scope rings. A few years ago, I started gettting into rifles a little bit. I bought an inch pound torque wrench and tightened my rings to the specifications given to me by Leupold tech support people. I don't remember the numbers, but it wasn't anywhere near as tight as most people probably tighten their rings.
