Between black coffee, and shiftn' gears
Lee Lapin's fault.

Now honestly, do I look like I would misbehave?

Exactly my point. I mean the Perspective I prefer to have folks perceive of me is...just a normal Southern Gentleman. I admit being a Rebel, and subscribe to I didn't grow up - just got bigger -Art.
Don't mean I "look" like what folks expect.

I was being a good student, sitting in the IT lab doing my studies. I sensed the entering of another person and them heading to MY corner where I prefer to spread out and curse under my breath.

"Hi, you need a break, lab is going to close soon anyway, and with the weather predicting ice, sleet snow and Humpty Dumpty going to fall off and bust his...".

Yeah HBR found me...

I then find myself at Gander Mtn.

"Your Friend Lee Lapin said they had Brenneke Slugs...we go find them first then we go nuts".

http://www.dnrws.com/rottweil.html

I was 5 years old again, my hand had a firm grip, and I was being lead ... I was not allowed to stop and look at anything, much less touch it.

<Plunk!> She found them, my job was now to stand there and hold hand-basket, and catch these as she tossed them "up" from lower shelf...

" I have ammo for my dealie, just since we are here, might as well get some loads for testing my other barrels..."

Makes perfect sense to me...should have gotten a buggy. She kept tossing, I kept catching...

I got to carry these out to the vehicle, then back in we went...

I did not get lost, I knew at all times where I was...not my fault she has shorter legs and can't keep up.

[Larry knows something about how this could happen]

Mutual Friend shows up, has another friend of hers. It is not rude to not put down a Nice two barrel 28 ga shotgun to shake hands ...person understood and he too shouldered the gun...who needs to shake hands?
Shouldering shotguns works very well - thank you very much!

"You know anything about Super X2's....".
All I heard was "SX2" , "Blue & Wood", "Heading out to shoot".

Paybacks are hell, my turn to drag HBR by her hand down the aisles and out the door".

"I'm not thru looking".
"Damn store will be here, this fellow is heading back out of town...burning daylight...".

Okay the fellow I knew of, and I knew darn well he was not 'new' to shotguns , or the SX2. He just had bought another one like he already used for everything and ...basically I was set up to go shoot. Mutual friend set me /us/ this up.

"So you know about the SX2"
" I know his daddy better"
"At your age - you would".

<laughter>

Hey, we gots ammo, a trunk full of ammo. We had White Flyer targets, and shotguns, sounds like a winner to me.

So we first broke out the Brennekes. Now HBR's 870 is a 20 ga with 2 3/4 " only chambers.

Product code : 211 5425

Lee , you done good my friend!

HBR hangs a orange clay off of and in front of a Big old radiator from a old Lincoln - what, you mean you folks don't have radiators for target holders?

Whew Doggie, punched that doggie but good! Clay, radiator, the sheetrock, the boards, and somewhere in the berm...

HBR heads to get her short bbl. "What are you doing?"
"Gotta see how these do from a short pipe" ["pipe" not long ago it was barrel]
"What idiot taught you that, and "pipe"?
"Some guy instructor, you would get along with him...".
"What choke?"
"Whatever it has in it, I just shoot the durn fool things...now shut up, burning daylight...".
:D

Lee was correct, still to blame even though correct...
That 2 3/4" Brenneke, from a 870 with a 26" and 21" barrel, pipe...whatever... works! Twenty- one yards and "show off" doing clover leafs on index card.

"Oh no...I was so busy tossing I did not notice these were 3" ones" <pouty lip>

Mutual friend says "hang on".
She has the Youth NEF 20 ga that matches my mom's. Quite a few folks do. Black wood, satin nickel receiver, recoil pad , 3" chambers with a fixed modified choked bbl. These give great patterns and groups.

Though I do not see a need for anything other than 2 3/4" shells...well we had 3" Brenneke's, HBR's gun cannot shoot them...never hurts to know...

Oh yeah! No problem! These do very very well. I shot 4 onto a index card, and hard to tell 4 shots fired...Penetration? You could say that....

So we all took turns with the 20 ga NEF, great gun for the money, Brenneke's work! 2 3/4 all you need...then again if'n you gotta, you can.

SX2. Anything you feed this sucker, it will run it. Hey, it has great pedigree...me biased? Yep!

SX2 likes the Brenneke's, for "just wondering" we shot some 3" versions as well.
Okay, I mixed up the loading from 3" Brenneke, to 1 oz target load, to 2 3/4" Brenneke. We kept mixing loads and the SX2 runs...period!

My personal pick is this gun, Sx2 3" chambers in Wood & Blue. I'd probably never run a 3" shell in it as 2 3/4" have always served my needs.

"My wish list for shotguns is getting longer". -HBR.
This said looking at me for some odd reason...

Mutual friend had her 1100 in 20 ga, with the 26" fixed IC tube that acutally patterns more like a Modified. Just her handy to tote genral purpose gun...she may just have in case a new shooter ( male, female, teenager) needs something to shoot. She has other shotguns...just this one is proven, and fills too many tasks. Bone Stock, except for fitting to her, and Pachmyer Decelartator of course!

What - you folks don't keep extra bbls , fixed or able to take screw in chokes in vehicles? WE just used the modified one...burning daylight...

This 1100 performed very very well indeed with the Brenneke's.

Now the 12 ga box say's :
12 ga, 2 3/4" [70 mm] 1 oz K. O. slug, Made in Germany.
This equates to the website above product code 211 5514

Seems to be a wee bit of difference in publish data on website vs box.

Oh, that NEF with the 2 3/4 " Brenneke's? What ? Now don't tell me you folks not only do not have a radiator from a old Linclon you do not have a Door from a Chevy truck for a target holder either?

I buy you books, send you to school...I swear!

I'm not gonna share! Get your own door to shoot.

I know, fellow with SX2 knows, so does Mutual friend and HBR...

But I got to shoot the windshield! :neener:

Thanks Lee!

You know, I gotta an idea for places selling ammo. They don't need buggies, they need 4wheelers with carts. Just hop in one, shop, take stuff out to vehicle, and return it back to store.

One more thing...MEC Reloaders, all 4 gauges, and component out the wahzoo!

Maybe they will let me just drive my truck in next I come in with HBR...be a lot simpler, save all that loading and unloading...

Ding, Ding, Ding!

Gun stores just need to be driven thru. We gotta a Mom & Pop "grocery" like that down south of me just drive into the thing...got ammo too...Need to be more of these...

"Yeah, gimme me ammo, moon pie, beef jerky, Dr. Pepper...and ...."
Stuff gets tossed into truck bed, pay from truck...down the road you go. *grin*

Regards,

Steve

I am "just" passing forward. Not to be confused with teaching, there is a difference!

Now Larry can attest to this, I do not get lost, just look for the shotguns, 1911s, Krames if YOU get lost and need "finding" where you are. :p

So naturally I was not lost, instead in the shotgun area. HBR could not see me, because I was knelt down on a kid's level, with his parents standing.

"Only you would give gun fit lessons to a kid in a store, and assist parents and kid making a choice.". -HBR

Nice folks, great parents, kid very polite and mannerly. Kids get really big grins when the MGR walks out with THEIR gun to outside of store and THEIR gun is handed to them. Parents get swelled up chests and ...

HBR heard the rumor about me not being allowed to be in gun places with some folks. She asked Mutual Friend whom confirmed this.

"Yes those fronts are not for store ads and specials, they are "keep out" notices with Steve's picture". - Mutual Friend.

Good Grief! I / we gotta go back just to check out the ammo for shotguns some more.

The Peter's slugs are "back"...I didn't know that. Other loads I have not seen or used.

Now what is funny, is I can be dumb as a brick when I want to. Granted this does not take much...
sometimes I do not know anything about shotguns, firearms...etc. Some people, places and things need not know.

steve

Brenneke's at $1.69 for 5? Best price I can find on the Web is about $3.50 for 5, plus shipping. Steve, can you stock up a couple hundred for me to be picked up next time I pass through? :D

Preacherman,

Funny you should mention that? :p

I double checked a reciept, sure enough "KO 12 ga 2 3/4" 1oz $1.69 + .14 tax = $1.83.". Seems one box scooted away from scanner...thus being paid for separately.
So...I need to double check the prices to make sure not a fluke with HBR ( she ended up with reciepts ) , cannot recall the prices on the 20 ga, or 3" versions.

Bad part is, high volume traffic part of town.
Good part is I know the back way and there are a lot of good eating spots, including another Outback!

I am probably the only guy that really should have a Clergy around me when I get loose around gun stuff...all these long guns on floor level you can pick and shoulder. There I was shouldering and wiping prints, shouldering and wiping prints...wore out my hankerchief. :p

Ask Larry...

We ever get turned loose in a gun place like this...Probably the only guy to ever get told to do Penance in a gun place... "I said I wanted to shoulder that gun first, do three mounting gun to face and push my buggy full of ammo".

And I ain't even Catholic. :D

Ask Larry, he kept looking "up" and asking for longer legs or something in Tulsa.
"Oh no...Steve is off again" -Larry.

I told him I was wearing tennis shoes, not my fault he wore boots...some folks don't know how to work a place at all...

Rule 1 : Always wear comfy shoes, forget style, comfy, feet hurt on them floors after a bit.

El Tejon was thought of while we were there, they have "bait" , fish and stuff... , think they have a coffee area too.. El T, would be all set! :neener:

I stay in trouble. Too many guns to shoulder, too little time...

I need to see if they will just grab a case from the back and give a deal on case prices. We should have anyway...WE cleared the shelf on these and some other stuff.

Me being taller, and having the art of "swoop and plunk" down, she said she wanted "those", I just swooped and plunked all of them...put one back so whoever re-stocks knows where they go.

See I am not a shopper per se'. I know what I want , I go to get what I want, and do so.

What, you folks have never left a gun place with 5 buggy's full of stuff? Folks ask me to "assist"...so I "assist".

More than once I had to have someone meet me with a truck, my vehicle would not hold it all...

"You got any AA in 12, and 28 ga, and Fiocchi 45 ACP?"
"Yes, how much you want"
"All of it and do I get a break on price for quanity and cash?"

Gun folks grin really big and even load up the trucks when you do that.:)

Call me when you get in town? :D
Don't make it on a Monday or Wednesday , Tuesdays are bad for me as well...Classes and such.

I'm happy to claim the blame for that one, friend. Told you KOs were mojo shotgun medicine, they tend to group well, penetrate a bunch too and don't break the bank. Best thing about them is they follow the old Elmer Keith rule, they make big holes, let in lots of daylight and let out lots of blood. They are the hard cast semi-wadcutters of shotgun slugs.

Hey, some geezer named Dave told me about 'em, back years ago at some now departed e-place called GunSpot where Randy Cain was the shotgun moderator. So alls I'm doing is passing along. Glad you found some, glad HBR likes 'em too.

Regards,

lpl/nc

*sigh*

We did in fact get freezing temps, sleet, ice and will continue to...

I was just informed Mutual Friend "just happened to" set outside in her rural area large tin cans with water last night. From her backporch this morning fired off a 20 ga 2 3/4" Brenneke, and 12 ga KO at said cans.

HBR is upset she cannot do this where she lives ...

Gives new meaning to "ice sculpture".

This is somehow my fault...

Ladies with shotguns are interesting enough, ladies doing load testing gets real interesting.

Just something in the way "Busted" was conveyed...
