I might pick up a new SG next month but I can't decide between the AIP Tac. 870 or a Mossberg 590a1. I like the idea that the AIP is a custom gun but I read where it is very hard to fix the ejector spring on an 870. However with a Mossberg it just screws in. Also I don't really care for the shell lift on the 870 either. With all that said I have had QC issues with Mossberg before. With the AIP 870 I know it is built with way better QC standards. So if you were me what would you do:confused:? The price for the 870 is $460 + some extra cost = $550. I can get the Mossberg for $475 total.

Those two guns (870 vs 590A1) were my final two choices for my HD SG. I chose the 590A1 for various reasons but you'll probably get most people here tell you that either one will work fine (and they are right). Choose what features are important to you and I'm sure either the 870 or 590A1 will fit the bill.

Good luck!!

+1 either will be more than effective and reliable. Pick which ever one has the features you like. And as far as the 870 ejector spring, if the gun is cared for and not used as a boat anchor it would probably take thousands and thousands of rounds for it to even weaken let alone break. If it ever would break your right it wouldn't be a DIY project because the two rivets would need to be drilled out, replaced (with the ejector of course), ground down, color matched, then the receiver would need to be re-finished. Shouldnt be too bad for a competent smith.
