Hi all, I have a bug to build a rifle lately. Last month I received a Romanian AK parts kit in the mail. Winter months are upon us so my adventure begins.

last night I started to drill out the old rivets, I have already stripped off the old demilled reciever and parts. While merrily drilling and a grinning I fear I have drilled to deep into the front trunion and into the barrel. Chamber area....only around 0.06". I fear like any semi-sensible firearm owner would, that I have ruined the barrel. Im not sure of the amount of pressure induced during firing a round (7.62) and the dimple into the outer machined area of the chamber will lend to a catastrophic failure. Sense is leaning toward scrapping the barrel and hacking up a Century crap-k-47 :scrutiny:

Let me know what you all think, I can post pics also. Thanks Cavhooah/scouts out

I don't think 0.06" would cause any problems.
Barrels have enough safety mass to handle that.

NEW MEASUREMENTS ! Ooops....I did some figuring with the caliper and am at .119" into the barrel. chamber wall thickness is at .245" . Heck I drilled halfway into it. Well goes to show I should have pulled the barrel and used rivets.
