AK-47 vs. Saiga-12

All I will say is if my life is in danger and I have a choice I WILL ALWAYS PICK UP MY AK. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I have never had it fail on me and I am not a person to clean my guns like I should. Have never shoot a AR but think the world of a AK. I own a saiga 12, saiga 308, Bulgarian milled AK, and just bougt a AK pistol. When I read an artical about a soilder in Vietnam who grabed an Ak and put it in his locker. He would shoot it some and leave it. He said he came back one time and the bolt was rusted shut, so he put the rifle down and kicked the **** out of the bolt and after that it fired every time. That is my kind of gun.

Another AR-vs-AK thread. <sigh>

If anyone actually wants to read pages and pages of debate about these two platforms - use the search, please.

If anyone just wants to comment 'I like [insert platform of choice] better, so there!', well - don't.

<soapbox> Oh, and there is no such thing in the metal-working world as 'injection forged'. There is forged, injection molded, milled, stamped, sintered, drawn, extruded, and so forth, with dozens of variations and combinations. Each manufacturing process has its strengths and weaknesses and debating manufacturing processes without stipulating the intended characteristics of the end product is just silly. </soapbox>

ETA - As usually happens when I shoot off my mouth, I have been corrected by a THR member smarter than I:

....injection forging, also termed as radial extrusion, lateral extrusion, sideway extrusion or radial forging, is an important branch of the extrusion process in which the cylindrical solid or tubular billet contained in the chamber is pressed by one or two opposite simple punches, causing the radial material flow through a fixed die cavity.

So there *is* such a thing as injection forging (altho references to it within this thread were likely inappropriate with regard to AR receiver manufacturing but not necessarily so)...
