AK-74 Stock Swap

Short answer, no. It depends on where each rifle is from as the recievers are slightly different from country to country.

Depends. The stocks from my Romak 1 (7.62) and Romak-2 (5.45) interchange without a problem.

But then again, the Romak-2 is not an AK-74, purely speaking. Nor is a WASR-2 or a Tantal, for that matter. So, it depends...

A consideration to take into account is milled v. stamped receivers. It's been my experience that stamped receiver furniture is pretty much universal. Maybe I've just been lucky up until now.

That has been my experience as well, but I claim to be no expert when it comes to the AK. OTOH, I have found that pretty much everything for an AK requires a bit of fitting (though the furniture typically fits pretty well) for each individual rifle.

:)

Hold the presses!

We REALLY SHOULD STOP USING THE GENERIC "AK47" TERM FOR ANY KALASHNIKOV! It is highly confusing.

The AK47 ceased production in 1959. No furniture from the AK47 will fit any succeeding Kalashnikov designs, such as the AKM, the AK74 or the AK-100 series.

Since the AKM arrived in 1959, the commies have not changed the furniture patterns, so all furniture will interchange among standard Kalashnikovs. The Yugos did not adopt the standard in their AKM, and there are some specific exceptions such as the AMD-65 where the furniture won't interchange.
