AK receiver covers interchangeable??

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if the AK receiver covers are interchangeable? I am thinking of making an accessory that mounts to the receiver cover and if the covers are interchangeable I will probably make it intergeral with the cover. Thanks for any info you can send my way.

For the most part, yes. Yugos are a tiny bit shorter in length, by about 1/4" if I remember right.

For the most part, they are. There may be some inconsistancies in manufacture, but they should pretty much interchange. At least the stamped receiver models do. Remember that the receiver cover is not a very stable place to mount optics and such. If your accessories require stability, you might want to look into other options. There are even receiver cover scope mounts with set screws to keep them tight and they still don't work well.

If there was a cantilever system/ rail that replaced the rear sight...

Sure and if they dont fit just hit em with a Hammer a couple times till they do. If that fails just run them over with a truck and dunk them in the mud, and then they will fit for sure.

There already is a system that does that, check out the Polish AK rifles...

DPH also has a rail like that as does Krebs...

You can also get a rail that will mount on the rear site block.
