AK users, I need some advice.

I'd probably stock primarily 124 gr Wolf Military Classic JHPs. These are loaded with Uly's 8m3 projectile, which is not only reportedly very accurate by steel cased Russian ammo standards, but also performs better and more consistently than most other JHPs on the market. I would, however, keep a couple hundred Wolf 122 gr FMJs on hand for nasty situations that might require a little more penetration.

My SAR-1 had trigger slap. I got a trigger replacement group from Red Star Arms and had it put in to replace the bad one. No more trigger slap. AKs are known to have trigger slap if you have a bad replacement trigger from Century Arms and other companies. RSA has the parts to fix that problem in short order.

I have the TAPCO unit in my Romanian AK and it is decent. It does what it is supposed to do and is a quick, economical solution. However, it doesn't even compare to the Red Star Arms unit. My bro put one of those in his, and now the trigger in his AK is better than the tuned trigger in my Remington hunting rifle. The Red Star Arms unit costs twice as much as the TAPCO unit, but it puts a truly match quality trigger in the rifle.

. . . which is exactly like putting a carbon fiber hand rolled racing steering wheel in your Chevy Aveo.

It looks good.

It feels good.

Does nothing for the performance.

I use Wolf, Silver Bear, Golden Tiger, etc in my SKS. I usually buy the cheap stuff; whatever is on sale.

+ 1 on that..my AK's SKS's and Saigas eat the above mentioned very easily...the only problem I ever had was with some of the Wolf rounds, the coating caused a few jam ups so I started to wash the rounds and it stopped the problem.I prefer Golden Tiger, picked up a few cases yesterday and will be heading off to the range soon.
