I’m trying to decide on a zero for my first AK. I’m used to ARs with a 50 yard zero, so 7.62x39 ballistics are new to me. From researching I’ve got the following options:
1. Russian method shown by AKOU
2. 100 yard zero
3. 25 to 35ish yard zero

What would y’all suggest? My range is only 150 yards and most shooting is done from 50 and in for defensive drills. AK is a Lee Armory side folder.

I usually put up a big white piece of paper at 200-220 yds with a 8" solid black circle in the middle. Set sight on 2. Use the front sight tool. Fire a three shot group. Adjust the sights as necessary. When you get all three fairly centered across the black dot it is sighted in.
For me the AK is set and forget, so zero it at your intended use distance.

This is personal preference and it also depends on your shooting distance, you said 50 to 150 yards so this is what i recommend.

Place the rear sight at the [1] (100m) and go from there using the front sight to finish the sighting in at 100 yards. If you want to shoot closer just put the rear sight in the “П” or “P” position, it should be good for defensive purposes.

Thanks for the replies. Think I’ll try the Russian method and check 100m zero afterword’s.
