RE slave reperations: Given the current state of most black africans at this current time I'd say anybody here in the USA, who decended from slaves ought to be on their knees and praising thier god that divine providence had the foresight to bring them to this great nation. They have no idea just how good they have it here compared to their black brethern in Africa.

Keyes is a loser. Sorry but that's just all there is to it. He's not going to win this time anymore than any of the other times he's pursued office. With such a track record I wouldn't run him for POTUS even if I did really like him. As for the tax reparations idea, I actually don't oppose it on paper. It looks good on paper. In theory it would work wonders...

In practical application there would be no wealth building and, when it was over, it would be the same old whining for benefits and assistance that the same old enablers would see to taking care of. In exchange for votes, of course.

While Mr. Keyes is an eloquent speaker and I agree with most of his positions, he lost me the last time he ran for President when he said he didn't get enough air play because he was black.

Sorry, not an excuse in my book anymore. Slave reparation is a complete joke. My granparents weren't even alive when there were slaves and they have been dead for 40 years. I refuse to pay for another generation's sins.

Keyes probably doesn't have a snowballs chance in the sorry State of Illinois let alone the Presidency (again).

Please. The guy is a first class nut ball. A looney tune to the extreme. It is such an embarrassment to us citizens of Illinois, that he was chosen as our U.S. Senate candidate for the GOP. OK. As long as you'd rather have Obama, I'll accept that. Obama is certianly a good man, but he was all in favor of banning pretty much everything last time I heard him express an opinion in person. Now he pays lip service to letting farmers keep an old shotgun or two since he needs the whole state, but that's it.


But next time you want to complain about all the RINO candidates who sell us and everyone else out at every opportunity and won't stand up for their beliefs, I don't want to hear it.

Actually I'm just poking fun at the slave comments, Usually I agree with Keyes on alot of issues and would vote for him if I were in IL. I don't think that he has a chance, because he actually says what he believes and PO's a bunch of people. This is a flaw in a politician these days. I like it though, no guessing what HE believes!!

Why don't the republicans in Illinois gut the party leadership. If I were an Illinois republican and my leadership dug up a Maryland has been presidential candidate I would be furious. Isn't their anybody in the entire state to take on Obama?

I think Alan Keyes is an extraordinary thinker and would make a fantastic representative, but I really don't see the point of the Republican leadership effectively setting him up to fail in such a liberal state. They think he'll do well because he's black!?

Let me tell you, there's only one thing liberals hate more than a white conservative, and that's a black conservative.

The reparations-through-no-income-tax idea is actually pretty good. People tolerate a ridiculously large federal government because the current tax system tends to hide from the average person how much taxes they actually pay. This would really bring that to the forefront. Similar thing with a national retail sales ("Fair") tax.

If anyone thinks that going along with Keyes' reperation scheme will eliminate any affirmative action nonsense forever I have a bridge I would like to sell you. All you are doing is throwing them red meat, which they will devour and then demand more. It will then become 3 or 4 generations without tax, then it will become all blacks who have lived in this 'culture of oppression and racism' because even though their ancestors were not slaves they still suffered from it's effects, and then it will be all non-whites.

They will then demand free education all the way through college and perhaps beyond, then free housing, etc.

The only way to get over this issue is to address the core principle concerned: that people today had nothing to do with slavery and thus should not be held responsible for it. If you compromise on that point, even just an ounce because you want your machine gun, you will be admitting guilt that is not your and you will be made to pay dearly for it.

Stop racism by treating people as equals regardless of their color. That's the only way it'll happen, by moving forward instead of constantly looking backward.
