I made 100 30 Carbine from 'unreloadable' Amerc brass :p

Trick is to inspect the HECK out of it. Some of their 'factory' stuff split on me, and when I pulled the bullets, I saw why.
Hand select the brass that doesn't have those features and they didn't split!!

I resized/decapped and trimmed 500 .223 cases this weekend, and thought I was doing good

You did do good. Pistol is much easier to load because those cases don't need lubed (except the 357 Sig) or trimmed. I hate prepping rifle brass. I think trimming is the worst part.

The oldest came home from his new job in Kentucky--he wanted me to run 200-115 gr
9 mm--I loaded them with 4.5 gr of Win 231 in about 2 hours using a Lee classic turret---normally that would take me 1 week working on & off.
He called me & said I made one squib ( first one in about 20 years) Maybe he thought I was trying to kill him as he left his 2 teenage daughters & their dog for us to take care of. Being retired 14 years-- I don't rush reloading
Anyway the bullet stuck in his barrel & he said it came out with one push on a punch ?
Maybe someday he will find a shop with some to sell.

if you have a 9mm carbine you'll be surprised at the velocity/accuracy gains that can be achieved with good handloads and 'premium ' bullets. 124gr specifically
I load for myself and nephews 9mm handguns and carbines useing +P loads of Power Pistol and various makes of slugs.
50 yds tighter groups than needed to be effective at 100yds

I, Like walkalong, have been dragging my feet slowly over the bench lately- just getting some 44 mag prepped ( 500 pieces ) and my 30 carbine sorted. I'll get to those little buggers someday.......

Congratulations on the big haul ! Its nice to have a nice pretty pile.......... but we need PICS, or it DIDNT HAPPEN :D

Wow. A comfortable evening turning out a hundred 9mm or 20 30-06 seems so...
personal.

Just to answer the question, yes, before I made up the batches (about 1500 give or take of each load), I tested them or they were a known load. I even shot about 500 during the session just to be sure I had it worked out right. My normal range session is around 500 rounds and over this holiday I shot around 1300 rounds of centerfire (357 Mag, 38/44, 38 Special and 9mm).

For Vonfatman. Why of course I have the 8 3/8". Plus it found a friend.

Can you tell which is which? Answer at the bottom of this post

I find with my pro2000, it is fairly easy to run off 800 to 1000 rounds at a session before I am tired. Since it is an APS primer system I never handle a primer. I was loading bulk MBC bullets so I just had to feed primer strips, keep the powder topped off and then just shove brass and bullets. The time is spent sorting and logging the rounds in. I sort after I load so I get all of the Speer cases from the Win's etc. I find this helps my accuracy.

To put it in perspective, this year I have loaded 17,517 rounds, fired 8,655 rounds and so I really have not put much back onto the ammo pile. Right now 357 Magnum is at zero rounds, 38 special I only have 718 rounds loaded and 38/44 I only have 488 rounds. I have a lot of loading to do which is why I am cranking out big batches.

My next plan is to do 158 JHP's and 158 LSWC's with 2400, Blue Dot, 296 and Longshot from 15% below max to 10% over current book max and do 50 per level in 5% increments. I have a stated goal of trying to recreate the original 357 Magnum power levels for my Redhawk 357 Magnum. I want 1550 FPS with a 158 with the lowest pressure.

For Vonfatman, its the bottom one.

That's A LOT of ammo. I did 1k rounds of 9mm in one day on my LCT about 6 months ago. Other than that I've done a few 500-750 round sessions. Feels good when you are done. That's for sure.

My best is as follows:

5000 rds 9mm 124 FMJ
3000 rds .45 ACP FMJ
1000 rds .45 Colt 255 LFP
500 rds 25-20 WCF 75 JSP

All loaded in 7 days on my Dillon 550B

My son and I cranked out 554 9mm last night between 4:30 PM and 8 PM on a Rockchucker. The odd number was due to running out of powder. Looking forward to the arrival of my 4 lbs of W231 from Recob's Target Shop so I can finish.

Coincidentally I finished a "batch" of 2600 .45 ACP yesterday.
A couple evenings on the 650 and done.
I suppose my least favorite is loading primer tubes, although loading six tubes at a time is somehow a bit less tedious.
Ordinarily shoot 400 rds per range session, which we do every Friday. I can forget about reloading .45 ACP for a while.

I did bulk material handling & sorting equipment design work for a small commercial caster. They had at the time acquired a commercial automated loading machine. I can't remember the total production for an eight hour period but I've not forgotten the amount of propellant powder consumed 18.8 pounds of W231.

Congratulation Pete! That stash would last me several years.....not by choice. Peter Eick is a living example of how to save serious money loading ammo. To save the way he does you have to buy in bulk. That means spending serious dough to get the cheaper price. The price break where he buys has been at the 10,000 primer level.

I copied this picture of one of Pete's older posts....slightly more than 10,000. Each box is 5000.....the picture represents one order for him.

Of course he does the same thing on powder and bullets. He's the reason I bought a Pro 2000. The thing is simple to use and stout as a tank.....and preloaded primers are a joy to use on one, not a drudgery.

The press has loaded more than 300,000 rounds for him and going.

I'm in awe of anyone who buys AND uses that many primers, as Pete obviously does. No way would I buy that many at once. But then, at my age, I don't buy green bananas either. ;)

It seems I'm in the middle of load development for all my firearms so no bulk loading for me. Finding the right powder charge can be a chore but throw lead alloy on top of it and it becomes tedious. It's a good thing my criteria for a lot of it isn't bench rest accuracy. If that was the case I don't think I'd ever be done.

I look at the picture of the primers and they are nearly all gone already. I think I only have about 20,000 left and they will be run through by this fall.

Summer is reloading time for me. Right now it is 100F out and 111 heat index. The reloading room is 78F and 50% humidity so other than a break to see the forums, the press has been cranking away.

It is a lot of fun to load big batches. You get in a groove, relax and clear your head of the weeks stresses and work and then just load. Sort of like when I shoot. Relax, clear the head and try to just let the gun roll with the recoil.
