All around best made 1911 9mm?

The "best made" 1911 in 9x19 is going to come from one of the semi-custom shops. Mine is a Baer, but I have tried the STI Trojan 5.0 (best value for the money) and the STI TargetMaster (great PPC gun). I still have not tried a Wilson 9x19, but I did have John Harrison build me a 9x19 1911 on a Series '80 Colt chambered in 9x23.

As far as Commander-length 1911s in 9x19, Baer will build one, but the MSRP is close to $2300. I believe Wilson will also build one. Kimber has built .38 Super four-inch guns, so a barrel and extractor change will yield a 9x19 gun.

What length is the PM9 barrel? Full size frame or commander frame? I have a Kimber Pro Carry II in .45 and would like a 1911 in 9mm to go along with that. While I COULD go with a Pro Carry II in 9mm as well, I'd rather mix things up a bit.

I messed around with a DW CBOB in .45 the other day at our local shop and it is priced comparably to the PM9's. Felt VERY smooth, solid, and tight. I'd assume the PM9's to be the same. Felt more solid than my Kimber. While I love my Kimber, I'd like one of the these semi-custom ones with quality parts and craftsmanship.

So if you had to choose between a PM9 or a CBOB in .45, which would ya go with? :)

can't find PM9 on Dan Wesson site-can't find manofsteele site. Anybody got some correct addresses for these sites?

9mm

I still have my m39 I bought in the mid 70's, not sure how many rounds have gone thru it, but its a sweet and accurate shooter, only the sig p6 comes close IMO
good luck

You can build your own as well. This is my Colt 38 Super converted to 9mm. I had a match barrel installed, a fitted barrel bushing, I installed the LPA adjustable rear sight and did my own trigger work. I did the same thing with a Rock Island Armory 38 Super several months ago, which was a very inexpensive shooter in 9mm.

This Colt will shoot a 1/2" group at 30' with my handloads.
