My LGS was out of Hodgon H380 but had some Alliant Varmint powder in stock so I decided to give it a try in my 22-250's. The max listed for Hornady 55 gr. V-Max bullets was 34.7 grs so I loaded 10 each with 33.0 and 34.0 grs for testing. I shot 4 groups of 5 (10 total from both rifles) and was very pleased with the way these rounds peformed in both my Rem. 788 and 700. All 4 groups were under 1 1/2" (both the 34 grs. were under 1"). Not sure if I'm will to give up on H380 quite yet, but I was pleased to find a decent backup powder for the 22-250's. Alliant indicates it is also good for 223, so I will give it a try in these too. For those that it matters, it is also made in the USA :)
