Hi,

I have installed a Browning factory ambi safety on a BHP clone. The safety engages as it should, with a nice positive action. However, now the hammer will not drop at all.

What have I missed, what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

Wes

The lug on the left side lever blocks the sear. Most fitting is done by filing/stoning where that part engages the sear, however there is another area to check first. The spring loaded detent located in that left side lever engages a couple recesses in the frame. Sometimes the replacement detent may be sharper or blunter than the original, preventing it from moving smoothly in/out of the frame recess and/or moving fully on or off safe. Check the fit by removing all internal parts so that you have only the stripped frame and the safety lever. You can dull or sharpen the tip of the detent and also adjust the recess in the frame if needed to get the feel and amount of resistance you prefer. Usually adjusting the detent gets it done. Rarely need to touch the frame recesses, but I have had to do it a couple times.
Once you check that move on to fitting the safety to the sear.

Does it have the magazine disconnect? If so, do you have a magazine installed?
