Thanks to all for the help provided in other threads. I’ve ordered a few knives listed but am looking for an ambidextrous gentlemen’s knife, one handed operation, and if with a flipper, a lock would be a necessary safety mechanism for me.

I often pocket carry a firearm in my right pocket, so I have become competent using a knife left handed, so I’d like to find an ambidextrous design with a clip, one handed operation, and a safety mechanism if the manner of blade deployment is a flipper. I also require a locking mechanism that holds the blade open when in use. I like smaller knives, and thin. Think Buck Decatur, CRKT CEO, etc.

Thanks again for all of the great suggestions thusly.

I feel you dilemma, but without YOU holding and fondling them my favorites might not be yours.
I do suggest you browse the knife sites
Bladehq and bladematrix to get a better idea of what is out there and their specs.
Any specific questions post here or pm me

Here's a couple, a Hubertus auto with stag scales, and a Microtech UTX-70 out the front with carbon fiber scale.

I'm left handed and both work well for me, especially the Microtech. It's very light and small, with quite a sharp blade.

My Kershaw Blur is set up to be ambidextrous if you want the blade pointed down.
I prefer the pivot to be upward and the clip can only be attached on one side if carried that way.
That's fine for me, as I CC on the left side - my right eye is pretty bad.

I’ve looked through blade hq’s entire “left handed” folding knife inventory. It’s sort of overwhelming!

That’s one I’m looking at. It is a bit more than I’d like to spend but gets rave reviews.
The mini-griptilian was high on my list, as was the mini-freek, but I stumbled into the deal with the Sequel. You might want to look at the mini-freek, too.

Is assisted opening anything you might like? Mini Barrage then is another option you might want to look into. I loved mine before I lost it mowing. Now I need to man up, accept it's gone and go buy another one.

Anything with an axis style lock. Griptillian is fine, but the handle is kind of fat. The Benchmade bugout is thinner, but lots of people don't like the flexible plastic handles. They make some upgraded bugouts, but they're expensive. The hogue ritter mini rsk is a better mini griptillian. The hogue deka is a better bugout. (I have the blue warncliffe version I'm about to sell if you're interested)
The asher knives nomad 2 is a better, cheaper bugout. http://www.asherknives.com/store/p5/nomad.html if you sniff around there are often coupon codes for asher.
Ganzo is a Chinese company that makes a cheap axis lock knife. The steel is not great, and the older designed are rip offs of Benchmade or other knives (ontario rat, but with an axis lock!) But their newer fh series of knives (flippers only) are phenomenal values.

My current favorite folding knife is the Spyderco Manix which has replaced a collection of Kershaws.

Is anyone familar with Civivi knives? I came across them on Amazon and like the looks of some of the models but I have no experience with them.

Civivi is a lower cost line of WE knife company out of China. They get rave reviews for craftsmanship, so I have a Brazen inbound and will review when I have some time with it.

The 2 civivi's I have had are great. I have a civivi made ferrum forge mini-archbishop, which is a little small, but we'll made. I have a civivi/ferrum stinger on the way. It won't most reviewers budget knife of the year last year. The civivi elementum has been getting rave reviews for a couple years.
My cjrb micarta feldspar is also fantastic, once I fixed the detent. And kizer makes a black linen micarta gemini that is good. The mini begleighter might also work for you. Kershaw bareknuckle is also pretty great, though some need the lock at lightened. But none of those I just mentioned are "left handed" kizer does make a left handed all titanium gemini.

I also dont understand the need for a lock on a flipper. But some of the ruike knives have what they call a beta plus lock on them that appears to lock the knife open.

Ka Bar Dozier Design folding hunter.

My choice. Inexpensive from Taiwan, light and flat for the blade size, no metal liners in the nylon handle. Clip and thumb stud are reversible. AUS8A is all the steel I need, but they do have a D2 version for more money.
They used to have other blade profiles but I don't see them any more except a pointier tip in the Junior model. I liked the Skinner.

I remembered the thread was about "gentlemens knives", but I forgot the "ambidextrous " part.....

Mrs and I had a semi-formal event today, and I was ready before she was....;)....so after rummaging through my casual/dress knife basket....I came out with these self described "gentlemens knives".

Looks like you should update your signature to include gentleman!
