Ammo can round count

There will come a time when you'll just know you have that much or more on hand for the ones you wish to stock such quantities.

That'll also change if you ever get into guns that cost a small fortune to shoot, and for which 1,000 rounds may be two or more times what you'll shoot in a lifetime. I keep a lot of .308, .223, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, 9x19mm, 10mm Auto, .22 Rimfire and a few others on hand. But 8mm Rem Mag or .375 RUM? At most, probably not more than 100-150 loaded rounds at any given time. They're strictly hunting rifles that only go to the range for zeroing before the season or to chrono and dial in a new load. And there are others for which no good reason exists to stock 1,000+ rounds. .25 ACP, .32 S&W, .454 Casull. These just won't see a lot of range time. A couple, perhaps a few hundred of these is usually plenty. I don't know too many folks who'll burn through 500 rounds of .454 Casull in a weekend.

Right now I only shoot & stock:

308
7.62x39
45acp
9mm
357 mag

So I don't have nearly as much to keep track of as you do....lol
All my 308 is Federal Gold Medal Match though. That gets expensive quick!

I do not stock everything. I load way to many calibers for that.

That's exactly why a few years back, I did some serious Spring Cleaning.
And I'd be lying my butt off if I said it wasn't somewhat painful to do.....lol

I layed out every gun I owned and had aquired over the years all in a big row.
Picked the ones that ended up being my personal favorites only, and then had a huge sale of all the rest of them.

I used to have a BIG PROBLEM when it came to guns and "impulse" buys.
I had all sorts of stuff that I had shot once, twice, maybe 3 times....and then it ended up in a safe or closet for YEARS on end after that never to be played with again really. I finally decided it was time to break the cycle.

Now...I have consolidated down to just a handful of "good" ones, (keepers) and my wallet sure thanks me now. My ammo bills have gone waaaaaay down.
And...my favorites get the love and attention they deserve too...lol
:D

how the hell do you guys get 1000-1100 rounds of 40S&W into a 30 cal can?? I can get about 950 rounds of 357sig into a 30 cal can before I have to push down hard to latch the lid!!

1,000-1,100 .40 in a .30 can? Hmmm, I only have a few hundred rounds of that so I can't/haven't tried, but I do not see that happening.

Just for reference, I have a 30 cal can full of 45ACP and there is only 700 rounds in there. 1100 rounds of 40 is a lot to try to jam into one 30 cal can.

Me either. I can fit about 800 .40's, 750 .45's, 750 .38 Spl's, or 1000 9MM's.

i hardly load ammo fast as i shoot it.
i understand Walkalongs statement #77
though i do try to keep 500 rounds per pistol caliber and 200 rifle---grab & go ammo.

besides SD ammo, the only other i have bought was mil-surp when it was 5 to 8 cents a round. of that i still have cans and creats against the walls.

cans are very useful to fill before going to the range for the day. 2 cans will hold about 600 assort center fire and 2 bricks of 22LR; enough for my daughter & me for 4 hours.
