Some questions have been floating in my head lately and was hoping some of you who happen to sell ammo could answer them for me.

First off is the ammo, does it generally come from wholesalers who buy it from the makers and then resell it to retailers or is it bought direct from Remington, Winchester, etc?

Also (I think there isn't but not sure) is anything other then a standard business license needed to buy from a supplier and sell ammunition to the public?

Those are the two main questions that have been floating in my head and had me curious, so figured I'd ask.

All I know is you do NOT need a FFL of any sort to sell only ammunition. State laws will probably vary.

yeah I knew you didn't need the FFL, wasn't sure bout any other types of permits or anything though.

Like most products the ammunition is generaly purchased from the manufacturer by distributors - these distributors then sell to businesses who provide the product to the public.

You may find some distributors that sell directly to the public as well.

There may be laws that govern the storage of amounts exceeding a set quantity . Mostly these are state laws but I would double check on any federal law regarding amounts vs special regulation for storage. The selling is pretty much standard business but again some state or local laws applying to this specific product .

There is also some regulations that may apply in shipping that will be unique to ammunitions.
