Well, in the last three weeks I have gone to three Wal-Marts, our local version of Wal-Mart called Fleet Farm, and even Gander Mtn. I can't find anyone stocking any 9mm or .40 S&W ammunition in CCI Blaser, Win. white box, or even any of the more expensive Gold Dot, Hydrashok, etc. What's going on? I last bought 9mm back in December. Are manufacturers making less, are folks hording because of Obama (if so, why could I find it back in Dec.?), or some other reason? They did seem to have plenty of shotgun ammo and non-.223 rifle ammo though.

There is a serious amount of arming going on accounting for the number of Background Checks completed between Sept 2008 through this year.

Then the People found they need to feed all of these new guns.

Do the best you can, scan the internet starting at places like Cabelas for example. Place your order and wait.

Or go to a good shop and talk to the Staff and ask straight out, when is your next order coming in? Likely as not, he or she might tell you that they dont know because the Distributors dont know and that the Factory like the one near me in Arkansas are running just flat out 24/7.

Im having a little trouble getting ammo from time to time but when I do order, I try to order a large batch to last a while. I predict it will take a year or two before the ammo shortage settles down. Why? We have alot of Troops scheduled to come back home from Iraq and I hope by then we can get caught up with ammo across the board here at home.

No worries, THere has been several over the past few days.

In fact after a Rant elsewhere on the net about ammo shortage I was pointed in this direction LOL.

I am having the same problem. I go to Walmart and they will have a box of .308 & two boxes of .222 on the shelf, no pistol ammo. It is nuts. I recently started sending my spent casings to Mastercast to reload for about 2/3 the cost of Winchester white box from Walmart. Good quality ammo & quick turn around times (1 wk):

I've taken to stopping into WallyWorld daily now, trying to find some 9mm Winchester White Box, which the local store has been out of weeks. Yet another wasted trip today: the shelves continue to remain bare in my neck of the woods. It's madness, and maddening.

Panicky folks are going crazy hoarding anything and everything......wonder what all these new folks are going to do when their homes are filled with ammo.....MAYBE by then, manufacturers can catch up and some of us can get some supplies

Keep going to different Wall Marts. Try the ones in a very yuppie area, the kind surrounded by town houses/condos, new developments, etc. That's where I've had luck finding ammo on the shelves.

Order from jgsales.com They have some 9mm, not WWB, but a serviceable analog.

That goes for .40 as well.

They are not carrying .380's or .38's, they do have some .45's.

Plenty of ammo at local stores here but Wal-mart. Except no 7.62 x 39. Someone bought 10 cases of Wolf Military for $315 a case(1000 rounds). I thought that was too high to pay. I guess I was wrong.

I've had a heck of a time finding ammo since Christmas. Keep looking, it's out there. I'd avoid even bothering with Walley World unless you have an "in" with the clerk who can give you a head's up when they get an order in.

Interstingly, I find .40 everywhere I go (other than Walley World). 9mm, 5.56, and .45 however are damn difficult to find.

Primer availablity STOPS most reloaders today

Why are primers so difficult to keep on the shelves? All the powder in the world won't fire-up without proper primers. Is this the REAL GUN-CONTROL? cliffy

the problem recently has come with the cut in production of the less common calibers to fill the orders of the more common. I am more worried about the prices right now. availability of the ammo to fill my needs has not been a problem.

Here in south florida we have an ammo shortage, a gun shortage, and people are robbing armored cars every other day...Thanx B.O.!!

Just keep checking back. I've been hitting the local Wal-Marts almost daily for the last two weeks, and just lucked out Saturday, stopping by right after they'd received a shipment of 9mm. They only received 1 case of Winchester white box 100 ct., and the guy in front of me bought all of them but 3 boxes, and I left with 2. The clerk said the best thing to do was just keep checking back in, because they have no idea when they'll receive their shipments.

My local Wal Mart has all the Blazer Brass 9mm I could ask for. When I went in the other day they had 40 boxes in stock and said more was coming in. They are, however, low on most other popular calibers.

My local Wal Mart had received an entire shelf full of Blazer brass 9mm ($8.97 per box). Several cases worth. Probably gone now.

Well, found and bought 3 100 packs of 9mm Winchester white box at Wal Mart for 19.95 each...finally. I also saw 9mm and .40 S&W finally stocked up at Gander, although the 9mm for instance was $30 per 100, at least they had some. Also heard that Sportsmans Warehouse was recently was bought by a Canadian company. Our local one didn't have much inventory of anything (ammo, guns, etc.), but said now that the purchase went through they will be getting more stock in.

Ever since the statement by the new AG, our local stores are out of almost everything in military/ semi auto calibers. Even the 12 ga slugs were gone- weird.:uhoh:

i live in New Hampshire, here the local walmart is out of pretty much everything the local gun shop had no .380 which me and my girlfriend both are looking for though i can say that when i showed up at the local gun shop they did just get in some 9mm which i saw laying in a big box not even stocked on the shelves as well as some 5.45 x 39 which i just got 1000 rds of anyways. it does seem ammo is a bit short lately though
