I am looking for an airtight container for long term ammo storage in my basement.

I looked into using those 20 gallon size zip loc bags but with the amount of ammo I have it just isn't practical. I would like to find something that is the size of the large plastic storage bins that wally world sells but in an airtight configuration.

What do you guys use?

Military ammo cans. They are like $5 each, airtight, watertight, stackable, and nearly crushproof. Get one can for each caliber you shoot, label it with a labelmaker, and you're good to go. I like the skinny .30 caliber cans best, personally, but I do have one of the wider cans for 7.62x39 (my wife and I both have guns in that caliber).

Just make sure, when you purchased military ammo cans, that the rubber seal in in tac.

That being said, I've used these type of containers for years, these seem to do their job nicely.

IMHO don't make the containor to big you will never move it. A 20mm can of 12 ga is VERY, VERY, heavy! Doh!
