Has anyone tried using the Angled Foregrips from Magpul? I'm considering a foregrip solution for my SIG556 SBR but have held off because I've always found the vertical grips awkward to hold.

I like to hold the weapon in the crook between the hand guard and the magazine well. The position is much more comfortable for me which is why the Angled Foregrips look interesting.

Has anyone tried using them? Any recommendations?

I played with one a little but couldn't get used to it. Some of my rifles have vert grips and some don't, and I am fine either way, just can't get used to an angled grip.

If you're the type of person who uses a beer can grip on the foregrip, no.

If you're using more of a thumbs forward or wrapped over the top of the hand guard while using the vertical grip as a reference/resting spot for your fingers, yes. I've handled one on a Colt Sporter with the Magpul carbine handguard, and I like the way it handles.

I run an AFG2 on my PDW, and it's worked very well. I run with my hand crammed into the base of a standard foregrip (see below), so I wanted to try the AFG2. Overall, I like it, and it's pretty comfortable. However, I feel like I have to use more hand strength to pull the rifle to the rear during some drills, whereas with say a stubby foregrip, you just cram your hand in there and use more arm strength.
AFGs tend to work very well if you run a very narrow forearm, like a tube style such as the Troy TRX Extremem or a VTAC or PRI front tube.

Demo picture of a stubby VFG. It's a good compromise between a standard VFG and an AFG.

I don't like those raked foregrips. I like the KAC vertical grip for most stuff, especially the M4, for the FAL I like this big (UTG?) cheapo that I bolt on. The KAC ones are pretty tough and comfortable. Makes room clearing, corners easier with the broomhandle, you can pivot the rifle in your hand faster/easier. Can't do that with the angled stuff so well.

The closest to an angled grip I used was the Harris bipod I had on my SDM rifle in the army. We'd fold down the left side leg and hold that like a grip. You can also press it against say, a window, and have a supported firing position. Very handy. Some folks would put the KAC grip behind the bipod.

I would also pull down the bipod legs on the SAW and use them like a angled, slightly canted vertical grip. Worked, but not very well. Better for carrying it on road marches really.

The only use I see for an AFG would be long term carry, If I know I'm going on a patrol and its going to be hours and hours. I would like an AFG but other than that. I don't like it. I'll still to the mag well every time.
