Called a friend on Saturday night and set up another shooting lesson for Tuesday. She's pretty set on getting her CA handgun safety cert and wants to take a few classes.

Seems to have the right mindset, was more concerned with me teaching her safety and handling, and marksmanship is a close second.

I told her that the two day classes will cost her $250 and she didn't bat an eye, she marked her calendar for the ladies' defensive pistol class at a local firearms training school.

Funny thing is how I got her started. I was passing through her hometown after a match, we met up for boba, and I was reluctant to tell her what I did in the morning because she was a sociology major, and they're notoriously liberal. I got around to telling her I spent the morning slaughtering helpless steel plates and innocent sheets of paper cardboard, and she thought it sounded pretty fun.

Shame on me for being prejudiced, of all people I should know what it's like to be prejudged as a liberal just because I'm young and was a university student.

She had her intro shoot a few months ago, but training day is Tuesday, and we're going shopping.

Reehaw!

Triad,

Boba is an ancient secret asian recipe for cramming 3000 calories into a sugary drink.. :D

Skunk, you slacker! Picking up where I left off huh? Cool...

Remember, the best way to win back the PRK, is to take women shooting!!

Not that I would mind if I were younger and in your shoes, but DO you have any guy friends? Just wondering.

Way to go, Skunkabilly!

You'd be surprised how many people are afraid of guns just because they don't know anything about them. You also might be surprised how many people will jump at the chance to go try it out. A lot of people are fascinated by them, just because of the somewhat taboo nature they have acquired over the last few decades.

Don't judge a college kid by their major. Take a sociology student shooting today! All of the new shooters I've taken to the range have agreed that guns aren't inherently dangerous; you just have to handle them safely. Most of them have asked to go again. I make them pay for their own ammo the second trip, though.

I get this mental picture of Skunkabirry cruising the highways and byways of PRK with multiple little emblems of MMM with a slash through it... sort of like the fighter pilots used to keep score...

No, bro, her intro shoot was before I even met you!

Tryin' ta pull a Gray Davis and take credit? "Gray Davis instituted the Amber Alert...bla bla bla" :D ;) :p

I seriously thought about painting a few little Japanese flags below the driver's side window though!

One more kill and I'll make ace! Might not sit well with my Japanese friends though.
