Had a great fall 2018, my hunting interests are mostly small game. I love hunting pheasant, grouse and squirrel. Deer camp was a bust for me this year but I never try too hard. I enjoy the snackies, drinkies and time with the boys more than getting a deer (dragging and cleaning are way too much work)

I hunt birds with my folks dog, Bailey an english springer and my father in laws dog Rocco an english pointer. I usually get out a few times a week. I tried to hunt all I could this fall as the wife has a bun in the oven and I am sure next fall will be a different story :what:

Squirrel season is open for another few weeks but they aren't out like they were in October.

I dont get into varmint or turkey hunting so I am pretty much done until next September. Oh well time to lace up the boots, put on some miles on hiking and do some target shooting until next fall!

Anyone else get bummed when their favorite seasons come to a close?

some nice photos there. if all this rain stops i will get out and do some small game hunting. my dad just got a jack russell i would like to trane her to some some squirrel hunting.

Love the pictures of the dogs and small game because it takes me back to my younger years. My dad bought me a shotgun when I was 12 years old and my early years look like the pictures. I haven't taken many pheasants and those pictures made me want to go pheasant hunting. That is one beautiful bird!

Nice harvests! Yeah it always is a bit of a bummer when the season comes to a close. I look at it as a chance to become more proficient with my guns by just doing target practice of various sorts. "pre-season" training I guess you could say. Not playing or even scrimmaging, just putting in the leg work. Never as fun as the season but it's what gets you to the championship.

Having a trained dog with a good nose is key for pheasants. Most of my enjoyment is watching the dog work. Shooting feels too easy sometimes, grouse on the other hand are tough for me, I do a lot of shooting but I never end up with many. Bringing a grouse home in my vest feels like a badge of honor.

I am a big deer hunter and get a bout of depression come January 2. I just moved to Tennessee and any the forseeable future has been cut short. I know your pain brother. Scouting and prepping for next season normally keeps me going. Along with a good dose of reloading and testing. Hang in there!
