Dan you have an 1889 and a K11.

The 1889 is an older design, not safe for GP11 or modern 7.5 x 55 sporting ammo. To shoot this, you will need to load ammo to a lower pressure than 7.5 x 55.

The shorter rifle is a K11 and is safe for modern 7.5 x 55 ammunition.

.308 bullets are fine in the K11 rifle. I've reloaded thousands of 7.5 rounds with .308 bullets. The Sierra and Hornady reloading manuals have all kinds of reloading data for 7.5 x 55 using .308 bullets
