I have an old, LC Smith double barrel 12 ga that beloged to my great grandfather.

Looking for a gunsmith who is competent in the restoration of antique arms and especially one who is familiar with the intricacies of LC Smith shotguns.

Anyone?

The definitive gun restorer

is Doug Turnbull Restorations. Do a search, but if you can't find it, PM me, and I'll get the address. They're only about 20 miles from me. My best shooting buddy has had numerous guns (Mostly 1800s Winchesters, but some others) worked on there, and their work is absolutely stellar, and even beyond. Because we live nearby, we've been given tours, and allowed to watch their craftsman (and believe me they are craftsman) at work. Having said that, be prepared for 2 things....They generally run about a six month backlog, and prices for this caliber of work aren't cheap.

My dad has it and hasn't given it to me yet, he's bringing it up in a few weeks. From what I recall, no it's not in too bad shape...just old.

dfaugh: thanks for the tip, I'd like to talk to them. I'm not in a hurry and just want the gun restored to it's original, gorgeous condition. It's a family heirloom and will be treated as such.
