Thinking about buying a new Remington R25 in .308. I found one locally for a decent price. I've heard the triggers are junk. I intend to use it for hunting. Any comments/suggestions regarding this platform would be appreciated. Also, curious as to cost of trigger job and/or upgrade....

Its a DPMS LR308 with a dip paint job. It will take AR15 triggers, RRA two stage triggers can work with some minor fitting, any DPMS two stage or the JP Enterprises trigger they offer ($100ish) should drop right in and give a great trigger pull.

Otherwise, its a ye 'old AR10.

Mine was extremely accurate. The trigger is typical of the AR family, perhaps a little better than average.

The JP single stage is a very good trigger, it can be set light with no creep. I had to take a little off the top of the trigger bar to get it as light as I wanted. The safety stops you from getting all the creep out, so carefully remove enough to get it right. Al

They say they are 7.75 lbs on the remington website. But I think that is a gross exaggeration. It feels about 1 lb heavier than that.

Yes, you can use any AR-15 trigger in it. Prices vary with quality. Gieselle is nice.

It is a DPMS with a 20" barrel that is lighter profile than the 20" version DPMS sells. They are very accurate.
