You'd get a lot of feedback on Bladeforums.com

Its the THR of knives.

It looks to me like a decent blade, though of course there are better. MOD (Masters Of Defense) makes an excellent, high-quality hawkbill called the "Ladyhawk." http://www.1sks.com/store/masters-of-defense-graciela-casillas-boggs-ladyhawk.html

Comes in an automatic version too: http://www.1sks.com/store/masters-of-defense-graciela-casillas-boggs-ladyhawk-automatic.html

Be careful: autos are lots of fun!

I'd probably go with the MOD as you are assured a quality knife with a good warranty.

Further, and I may very well be wrong on this, but I believe that the hawkbill blade design is not a good general-purpose shape.

Looks cool though, and it is great for SD purposes.

That MOD auto Ladyhawk is sweeeeet... :)

Yep that's why I want one. That and the other day I was at a church dinner and got a hold of a hawkbill shaped steak knife and that thing cut like a dream, I had to be careful or I would cut right through the porkchop, the plate and into the table.

Those ladyhawks are sweet, and a bit our of my price range. Man if I could just win the lottery I would have all kinds of toys:D

Was disappointed when I bought a WWI style knife from them and the blade said in big letters: MADE IN JAPAN.

Something not right about that and their site never differentiated.

I've got kind of a buy American bias going . . . . . annoying to buy something I thought was made in Upstate NY have MADE IN JAPAN on it.

I'm not a total fanatic about buying American-made stuff. . . . but imagine buying a Ka-Bar to re-enact a Marine unit in the Pacific and finding that stamp on your blade! :scrutiny:

yes, that would be weird, however, some of the finest steel and craftsmanship comes out of seki japan.
