This is a late 60's Colt invention. It is a synthetic (plastic) holster that fits a dress 1.25-1.5" dress belt and an UNSHROUDED 2" Cobra (shown) or DS ONLY. I've only seen one and it is a very secure and SUPERIOR design!!
I actually carry this 16oz (total weight!) rig when I am dressed up! ;)

Looks like a Yaqui slide turned sideways! :D

So, I assume it works on the thumb-break principle... but what holds the gun secure in the holster? With the muzzle protruding as it does, I'd expect the gun to come loose. How does it work?

These were actually excellent holsters, but Colt was ahead of the curve with it.
Back in those days, plastic was synonymous with "junk" and the design didn't sell.

About 15 years or so ago, Gun Parts Corporation sold the remaining stock of them at discount prices.

Unfortunately, it was available only in right hand and for the older, exposed ejector rod Colt "D" frame guns.
