Any reason NOT to use Blazer (not Blazer Brass) in Ruger SR22?

I've been using Remington .22LR of various types for several years and most recently bought a brick of Thunderbolt, but I'm finding that my new Ruger SR22 doesn't like it. Before that, my old Walther P22 had numerous issues with the bulk Golden Bullets. No other ammo has given me problems, but the only Blazer .22LR I can find locally is in the bulk pack, so I'm hesitant to buy a brick, as I've only used brass through any of my guns in any caliber.

Anyone have experience with this stuff?

Blazer .22 RF is brass too.

It gets pretty good reviews at Midway.

Unfortunately, there is no know way to tell if a certain brand of ammo is going to work perfectly in a specific gun without trying it.

With that said, I'd bet CCI/Blazer is much more likely to work in any gun then the crap Remington has been making in the last several years.

There is only one way to find out if the ammo in question will function through your gun, risk a twenty dollar bill and and give it a whirl. Rimfires are notorious for liking/disliking a certain brand of ammo.

I checked the Midway USA reviews, and although I realize that the SR22 is a far different creature from a 10/22, there were enough good reviews from Ruger owners that I'll take a chance on it. I'm hoping that my Walther G22 and Marlin 80 will chew through the Remington crap so that it doesn't keep occupying valuable space better used by reliable ammo!

I've used a lot of Blaser .22 in my Ruger MkII and an old remington 550 auto rifle. Functioned and shot just fine. Keep in mind that .22's can be finicky about ammo.

Blazer .22 also runs fine in my Beretta 87, which is a little more ammo sensitive than the Ruger.

The aluminum case on the centerfire stuff can cause problems for some firearms. Cheap .38 Special ammo, after so many rounds, would start to suffer from sticky extraction due to the cases expanding in a now dirty camber.

However, Blazer bulk in .22lr is my favorite bulk ammo. It's NOT aluminum cased like its centerfire counterpart. I've run it in my Ruger SR22 without any issues at all. In fact, some guns that are more finicky with ammo and usually require the good stuff all seem to run fine on Blazer as well. Seeing so, I have amassed a stockpile of 10k rounds of Blazer .22.

YMMV, so I'd suggest picking up a 50 round box when you get the chance. Two bucks is worth seeing if you get a good experience such as I did with this stuff.

Edit: Nevermind, I missed the part where you can only get bulk packs. If you have a Dunhamn's Sports in your area, here's a coupon (you have to be signed up for their rewards program, no problem, just do it before you use the coupon.)

Blazer bulk .22lr is also my favorite .22lr ammo. Seems to come from two different assembly plates, but both have work very well in semi auto pistols and rifles for me. One box is a 500 round brick in 50 round boxes about $17.40 in Minnesota the other is a 525 or 550 (cant remember which) packed loose in a box for under $17.00

I would pick that Blazer .22LR over any Remington or Magtech .22LR.
We use the Blazer at our club with SR22 rifles and I haven't heard any complaints.

Edit: just saw this is about the handgun, don't know about that sorry.

Blazer runs well for me in my MKII, Single-Six, 10/22 and OLD Marlin 99.

.22 Rimfires can be well "persnickety" about the ammo they like best. F'rinstance, my first .22 rifle was a Rem Nylon 66. It ate anything EXCEPT the Rem 'Golden bullet' 36-gr hollow point...A Rem gun that choked on Rem ammo...sheeeessshhhhhhh.

Buy a brick and give it a whirl...only way to find out if YOUR gun will like it.

CCI Blazer for .22 is good stuff.
Uses the same priming as the premium CCI stuff.

I use blazzer as my bulk ammo..never let me down. I find it is more reliable than the federal and reminton bulk

I buy the brick, not the bulk box, but Blazer is all I use in my Buck Mark and it shoots really well. Some of it comes with a silver bullet and some has a black bullet. The silver bullet ammo will short cycle in my gun but the black bullet runs all the time. The only brand that comes close, in my gun, is the Federal Champion.

Federal Automatch works well in most .22 rifles and pistols I've tried it in. CCI anything seems to run well in just about anything. Blazer is one that I will buy whenever I see it at a decent price.
