I generally carry a Kershaw Scallion and love it. But I don't feel right using it to open boxes at work. And I need something one-handed, because half the time I'm opening a box, I'm holding it on the shelf. Or garage use, when I'm cutting tape I have in the other hand, so on.
They give us auto-closing boxcutters, but the force needed to hold the blade out is enough to make it hard to control.
I almost bought one of those Gerber belt-clip knives with standard boxcutter blades, but it's flat, smooth, and doesn't have a stud, so it's utterly impossible for me to open quickly with the four stitches I currently have in my left thumb. See the note on the store-issue boxcutters above.
So, anything fairly compact, with a spring-assist? I already carry too much junk in my pockets to add a full-sized cutter, full-time.
