Yesterday was the first time out with my 308 RPR. My objective was to test loads from 42.0 to 43.5 grains IMR-4064 in 0.5gr increments initially. The reason for the odd 42.8gr load is that a number of people state that it's the FGMM load. A lot of people also say that it's 43.5gr. In any case this is the range I want to work within. There were absolutely no pressure signs at any of these loads.
Can this be evaluated from an OCW or any other standpoint or is more data needed? My range time is extremely limited and I'd like to come up with an acceptable load from this session. I'm not looking for 0.25" groups either. I'm not a good enough shooter to take advantage of the "optimal" load so anything MOA or sub is fine with me.
Any helpful observations guys? Thanks in advance
Edit-- I forgot to mention that all rounds were loaded to 2.80 COAL as were all of the FGMM rounds that I checked. When I arrive at a load, I plan to fine tune it a bit playing with base to ogive length (0.01 to 0.03 jump) to see if it makes a difference in my rifle.
