Like the title says.... anybody notice 9mm and other pistol calibers going up in price. Seems like withing the last month or so. I was seeing all kinds of deals for brass cased 9mm ammo in bulk. $160/1000rd is roughly what I was seeing and now it seems steel case is about that and brass cased more like $200/1000rd. I see rifle ammo staying about the same. Anybody else notice this fluctuation?

A couple shops and chain stores in my area seem to have gone up and target sports usa.com seem to have gone up a bit on different brands iirc

I would say prices on a number of firearm-related things have rebounded from the cheaper-than-manufacturing-cost trough of 2017-18. At some points, there was such a glut of inventory at the manufacturers, distributors, and retailers alike that blowing things out for less than cost was essential if cash flow was required. As that big glut gets worked through, it's completely rational that prices would rise modestly to reflect current production costs plus a small margin for all 3 levels of the chain.

I've noticed the price rise, too. AIM always had some brand of European brass ammo under $8, now all over $8, some closer to $9.

Russian steel is still between $6 and $7.

I can usually get decent 9mm for around 170 shipped, it's .45 acp that is hit or miss. I'd like to come across a good deal on range ammo.

I've noticed that 22LR has come down a little the past few months, but not noticed all the rest because I reload everything else. Components costs have remained flat, or maybe the powders have come down a little.

They no longer have to compete with Wal-Mart on pricing...

First thing that came to my mind also when local retailers were mentioned. Buy local and pay tax, or buy online and add the shipping charges, comes out similar many times. Online you get to choose more options though.

Interesting point, and potentially relevant in smaller/more rural markets.

Extremely relevant in my area... Besides Walmart, there was one other LGS for 50 miles that sold ammo. Since Walmart stopped selling, I stopped by the lone LGS the other day to replenish my range ammo and the cheapest 9mm they had with brass casings was $11.99 a box. Blazer Brass 115gr. Could have sworn it was $9.99 a box a year ago. The Cabela's I stopped by today had it on sale for $8.85 a box. Bought some.

I have a nice pile set aside for storage purposes but I was getting ready to order a couple thousand round cases for spring shooting and just seemed like across the board prices had gone up from where they were a few months ago.... but mainly just pistol ammo.

I was hoping that retailers on the local level wouldnt jack things up after wal marts decision. I dont like wal mart but I liked the brass cased 9mm @ $7 box

Unfortunately, many states passed laws mandating larger out of state sellers collect sales tax for them, or face possible lawsuits.

For me, and others, the benefit of buying tax free out of state has disappeared. So now it's shipping and tax. Unless it's free shipping or an incredible deal, it's no deal.

Reminds me, that it's election year.
Gotta start stocking up on supplies.
Stock up before everyone else does. It's never good to wait till everyone else starts stocking up too.
Yeah, that's what alot of folks did when everyone thought Hillary was going to win. But ammo prices dropped thru the floor after she was defeated. That said, I have been stocking up over the last year but not for political reasons.

I have, and will continue, to order cases lots from TargetSportsUSA; even if it goes a few dollars, that is of little concern; if .01/round increase is tough, then casting your own and reloading is for you

just looked them up the brands I prefer Fiocchi and S&B they are out of, other sellers have it so a no go for me with them.

Yup, this is the big one. If you're going to buy 1000 rounds of 9mm, best do it on the internet because that's where the best prices are. I posted about this weeks ago, but you can get 1000 rds of steel case Wolf for $112 and free shipping at Sportsman's Guide if you do the 30 day trial and use a coupon.
