If so, what do you carry, and in what rig? Would cross-draw appendix carry work well with a j-frame or similar sized gun?

Before I sold it I would carry an SA Ultracompact V10 .45 in a Kydex Bladetech OWB rig moved to the crossdraw position when on my bike.
It was just more comfortable to have it there for me.

I only carry crossdraw while afield, where I use N-frame or Blackhawk size guns.

I use either the timeless Bianchi Cyclone #111 or a newer KyTac Trail Holster.

Crossdraw doesn't make much sense for me for a tiny J-frame.

I understand it isn't a "Cross Draw" in the truest sense, but a shoulder holster is cross draw in action.

I use a very lightweight shoulder holster to carry my Kahr PM-40 when I wear my shirt tucked in. Certainly not a real fast action holster. But it is invisible under a dress shirt and very comfortable for all day wear.

I have carried in a cross draw when sitting in a vehicle for an extended period. Pretty accessable when sitting but a shoulder holster with a short frame handgun is better for me.

Currently carrying a Colt Cobra with shroud, or this nickle Cobra in a Kramer crossdraw. Really comfortable, secure, and fast. I do not worry about "snatches", since no one knows I have it on.............................................................................................................

When hiking, I use a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar pancake holster to crossdraw a S&W M60. Works for me.

+1, except mine is an SP101 3".

I find carrying cross draw while I'm fly-fishing keeps me from getting my slack line tangled in the holster.

Armoredman: One school of thought against your style of holstering is that as you bring your pistol into presentation position, you have to twist your wrist and during this action, you bring your muzzle into aiming at your own body. Does this cause you any concern?

I don't see how AM's holster is crossdraw at all. At no point is a limb across the body. The butt of the weapon faces out. That's about it.

I carry a k-frame crossdraw frequently.

The crossdraw pictured is called a "cavalry draw"

I experimented with drawing from this position and I did not find it necessary to point the gun at myself. As soon as the gun clears leather, twist - or untwist, if you prefer - your wrist while the gun is still vertical and parallel to your body, then bring your arm, hand and gun up. Also, the holster covers the trigger guard, and even if you put your finger on the trigger - which you shouldn't until the gun is on target anyway - the CZ pictured has a DA trigger, which takes quite a bit of pressure and movement to fire the gun.

That looks very interesting, as it appears to make the gun accessible to either hand, and more comfortable when driving or sitting. A conventional IWB holster at 4:00 is neither.
