Never had anyone ask to borrow one but I did loan one out because of the following:
He is a deputy prosecuting attourney (don't know why he didn't have one just because of that)
He was running for office and started getting threatening e-mails. He asked if I knew anything about guns and could I lean him in a good directions.
Before loaning him the gun I spent 2 hours going over gun safety with him and his wife, including the state law on use of force. (He wasn't familiar with that. He'd been doing mostly domestic violence prosecutions.)
Then took them both to the range and had them both shoot a variety until we found something they both liked. Surprisingly, they liked my S&W airweight with crimson trace grips.
They eventually bought the gun from me. That meant I had to buy a new gun, new grips and a second set of grips for my P220.
His wife used to be semi-anti, but really enjoyed shooting.
Another win for us.
