After finally coming to admit that these old eyes just dont seem to be what they used to be, I have finally decided I need to put a scope on my AR 16" carbine.
Cost is a factor.
I have made the "Black Monday" on-line purchase of a Nikon P-223 3X32 with the 2 piece mount from Optics Planet for what I thought was a very reasonable price of $174 shipped.
Has anyone had experience with these? Pro's -Cons?
I know that Nikon also makes the M-223 that cost a bit more. My understanding is that the M series is built on the Monarch platform, and the P series is built on the Prostaff platform.
My shooting with this will be mainly as a range toy for bench shooting that likely will not exceed 200 yds.
What do you guys think of this as a budget-driven scope for bench shooting at this distance?
Thanks in advance.

I have one on my 16" 300 blackout, the optics are exellent for intended purpose and the pointblank program on nikon website is real handy. the carbine crosshairs are especially nice to deal with the trajectory of the blackout. Should work good with 223 just need targets further out.

I have an M-223 3-12X 42mm BDC600 on my Colt 6920 for medium distance duty. I like it. The Spot-on software is great for it as well.

Use a simple Walther P-22 red dot for the close-in stuff.

Have a 6-24X 50mm I may throw on there and try some long distance stuff for a laugh or two.

I have the M-223 1-4x. My only gripe, but also my biggest, is the exposed turrets are very easy to turn, so any accidental bumps have a very high chance to throw off your settings. If they made the turrets with either covers or made them much stiffer, I'd be quite happy with 'em, as is, I think its merely OK.

Yes, I'm hoping this will fit the bill.
I think I'll be happy with the fixed power at that range.
B ut as I said, the price certainly seemed reasonable.

I bought the Nikon P223 3 - 9X and it's very good for the price. It's clear, bright, sharp, and the turrets are stiff enough so they don't get knocked off the zero setting easily. It does a good job on my AR. It's a great budget scope. Hope your 3X32 is as good.

I bought a Vortex 5-15 X 44 scope for my LR 308 from Midway. They were made exclusively for Midway by Vortex and they are fantastic scopes. But Midway says they're a seasonal item. So hopefully they will get more in next year and I'm going to buy one for my S&W 15 Sport AR. Makes paper punching more accurate!!

Nikon P-223 3-9 BDC 600

Great to hear you picked up one of my favorite Nikon Scopes. They are built on the PROSTAFF platofrm which gives you a lot of features usually found on more expensive scopes. Make sure you check on Nikon's, Spot On Ballistic Program to further dial in the accuracy of your BDC reticle. It takes into account your rifle, scope and ammo choices to give you the greatest accuracy.
I hope you'll post some pics when you get it all mounted up and a range report?
