For 15 yards offhand I'd say that POI shift is acceptable. A little Kentucky Windage for further distances and it looks gtg.I feel the same way. Kinda....because I bought one They's probably release the 4" non-compensated one soon.
It shoots well. As usual, DA is pretty good, SA is overly heavy compared to a Smith. Lockup is tight, cylinder alignment looked good, but I got some shaving with Precision One plated .357. I don't remember if I got it on my other .357's. XTPs were OK. I don't really like that P1 uses plated for their .357s, but they are cheap and they use starline brass. Besides, they are local. So I buy them anyway.
So I shot 70 each of 9mm FMJ and .38 SWC plated at 15 yards. It shot well with both cylinders, but against my expectations the 9mm did a little better. I wasn't trying to set any records, just going out and plinking.

I find it interesting how much the POI changed by changing calibers. Oh yeah, and now I have to clean 2 cylinders instead of one. Not sure I like that.
It uses moon clips. It comes with 5 of them in the box.For 15 yards offhand I'd say that POI shift is acceptable. A little Kentucky Windage for further distances and it looks gtg.
BTW, do they use moon clips for the 9mm or is the extractor built into the chambers like the Charter Pitbulls?
Have always been more of a Ruger guy, but lately haven't been happy with them and I see that the multi-caliber revolver Taurus had at Shot last year is finally out and under $500. My next .357 purchase will be a 6 inch barrel and it just so happens the 692 is available with 6 inch barrel, so I want feedback and I want it now!
For those who say it won't hold up to steady loads of .357, my intention is to mostly shoot 9 and .38 in it, .357 when I feel I need the power.
Taurus has always done a terrible job marketing their guns, the Judge was their only real success, but that thing caught like wildfire because it was a .410 and people bought them thinking they were shotguns. This revolver must not be very notable. I have been waiting over a year maybe 2 for it to be available. It finally is. And it's $450. But no one reviews it much. Even on THR we have guys buying them. Then no story. I guess it's just not much to get excited about. Sure does look like it is. Too bad.
I was looking at that too. I like the look and probably the balance of it better, but with the compensator, it shoots more like more like a 2" barrel snubby. And I already have .357 and 9mm snubbies that are smaller and lighter (and easier to clean.)
OK, I guess I'll tell you how mine works out. I am thinking 2 weeks before I get one.
Yes any revolver that's ported/comped will have velocities in line with firearms that have bbl lengths from the forcing cone to the start of the porting/comp.Does it shoot more like a 2" snubbie due to the gas loss from the compensater?
I've got one of the 2.5" 692s and as a note the barrels not ported, as I expected it to be.
Only shot it with 9s so far but reasonably accurate, and 15mins of polishing and a 12 dollar taurus "large frame" wolff spring kit, and the things got an smoothish (not rough, just can feel each action) 8.5lb double action pull, and a crisp 4lb single.
Good trigger, easy to see sights, and decent ergos.
I like mine.
Yeah, I wasn't looking forward to it. The things really just a range to but still.....That's good to hear you can get one unported. Short barrels, Magnum cartridges and compensators is a flamethrower of a combo. I don't mind comps on longer barrels, but generally I could do without.
Sounds like a good time to me! Maybe I'm strange, but to me having a little extra kick, recoil, flames, etc is what shooting SBR/pistols, magnums out of short barrels, 50 BMG's, full auto, Desert Eagles, so far and so forth fun. That's good to hear you can get one unported. It was overcast when I was shooting it with 9s and it was tossing a surprisingly large fireball. Looking forward to trying it with some h110 handloads.Sounds like a good time to me! I reckon I will eventually pick one of these up, but I doubt I'd use it in a self defense or the like roll. It will be a fun range toy for friends and fam to get a kick out of.

With that flame thrower, why have a lighterOh, I'm no stranger to short barrels, comps and magnum cartridges...
I'm don't care about the 9mm accuracy, I expect it to not be as good as the .38 or .357, but not terrible either.I've got one of the 2.5" 692s and as a note the barrels not ported, as I expected it to be.

When you get to trying .38 or .357 in it, give us an update please.
