Anyone on here do Kydex?

I've got a Kydex holster for my cell phone and the belt loops are too tight. A double thickness belt won't go through. It would really be better to pay someone to make me a couple of formed strips about 5/8 inches wide than having to buy a sheet of Kydex on the internet and try to figure out how to work with it. Thanks...

He does holsters & mag carriers for a reasonable price, don't know if he'd be up for a small project, but who knows, he might have scraps that size on hand?

I work with kydex. Could you describe to me how you're trying to modify your cell holster? If I can be of help, I'm certainly willing to give it a try.

If you are at all a handy person, a heat gun or hair dryer can do wonders with kydex. It takes only a few seconds with a heat gun to make kydex plyable enough to mold into any shape you wish it to take.
The last kydex holster I bought, I had to modify this way. It was super easy.

This is a picture of the back of my holster. The loops are too thin for a thick (2-ply) 1.5" belt to go through, a thin (one ply) belt will go through. The opening between the loops and the back of the holster is 0.515". The loop is 0.65" wide; the Kydex is 1/8" (0.125) thick and the holes are 2.68" center to center.

depending on how much gap you need to make, you could unscrew the screws holding the loops to the holster, and shim them out with a washer, provided you have enough thread.

That's true.

Adding an O-ring or other spacer in there might do it.
I'm sure the hardware store has longer screws if needed.

Had a kydex builder respond to his req. for cell phone holster and rig for a LS 10mm 1911.

"Buyer" dropped interaction when kydex builder provided a P.O. Box for contact address, and refused to communicate AFTER a holster was built for him. Beware.

Have you tried changing the sides the loops are on? For instance, put the leading edge loop on the trailing side, and the trailing side on the leading side.

Don't have enough threads to shim with washers, but may can get longer screws. A guy on another forum made the holster, for $30. Took a long time to get; I guess he found it was too much work for the money.

By reading the guy's feedback thread-it had nothing to do with feelings: he built you a holster which you ordered, and never heard from you again.

You can try to frame it however you like: you asked for and agreed to a service, then dropped it w/o any comment whatsoever.

Here you are asking for the same kydex work in another forum-who wouldn't question what you're doing?

I didn't ( don't) remember that I had ordered a holster and didn't understand that he would build one prior to getting paid. But, If you have (or can get) his address, PM it to me and I'll send him fifty bucks and he can send the holster, or not. That's the best I can do.

The idea of shimming up the loops worked, after getting some new screws. Due to the angle of the loops, it took a half inch of relief to get a quarter inch of clearance. Thanks for the ideas.

Which is why I suggested just swapping their positions. With the angle change you may not have had to do anything.

Here's how this works: a.) You ask for a vendor service, and their product. b.) You communicate with said vendor(s). c.) You picked a vendor who answered your request, and then walked away from them. d.) You still have not refuted the vendor's feedback in the 1911 Addicts forum, why is that? e.) You still have not evidently contacted the vendor who built the product(s) you requested, why is that?
When you try and shove off this basic responsibility of buy/request/sell online, it is a red flag for everyone out there: either you are a criminal phishing for addresses and other informations, or you are law enforcement looking for the same informations for different reasons. Either way, it's your responsibility to follow thru. It's OUR responsibility to take care of each other and you Sir, have got "crap sandwich" written all over you...
