I picked this up about 10 years ago in a pawn shop for a crazy low price. I can't recall exactly what I paid, but around $20, maybe less. After I bought it I mentioned to the store owner that it was a good price for a Benchmade. He didn't think it was a Benchmade, or he'd have charged more.

It doesn't say Benchmade anywhere on the knife, just the Blackwater logo and the 154CM stamped on the blade. But I have little doubt it is a Benchmade Griptilian. If not a very good counterfeit. 001.JPG 003.JPG

I'm assuming it was a special run made for Blackwater. But I've never seen one with this blade. It is very close to the drop point, but with a hole like they use on the sheeps foot. But if you compare it closely to the drop points the profile is slightly different.

Any additional info would be appreciated.

Benchmade did make Blackwater branded knives. Some (most?) of the knives they made for HK weren't marked Benchmade either. Those look like authentic griptilian handles. I'd wager it's genuine, but perhaps @hso will come along with his better knife memory and be certain.

Blackwater Gear knives were made by Benchmade and others and as you can see in all the pics there was a Griptilian variant.

What concerns me about your knife is that every one of these I've seen in pics or person the coating did not cover the edge or serrations.

Thanks, sorry for the delay but a bad storm killed my router shortly after posting. Having to use my phone and I hate doing that. I really like the thumb hole with drop point blade. Would also prefer non serrated blade. I'd buy a version like that if Benchmade offered it

HSO. The edges are not coated. Just bad lighting. In fact the coated parts are well worn. I don't know when it was made but I bought it used and it has not been kept in a drawer. Been used a lot
