Hey fella's,

Thought id chime in.... Has anyone here started their friends on carrying? I had a few friends that had shot firearms before, but never carried. Either being on person, or in their car or what not. Actually a few gave me sh@t about carrying. A while back there was an discussion about having a weapon near you, wether it be on your person or close to you, long story short, many friends thought i was being paranoid. As time went on, they began to see why i thought the way i did. Granted, um not exactly a typical target. Whatever typical means.... 5'11 260 pounds, carry myself well, and am nice and polite to everyone i meet.

However, people that dont know me, i can see by there looks and reactions, that they think im some type of bad ass...far from the truth. If you are friend of mine you will literally get the shirt off of my back. Any who back on topic, i carry a gun most of the time, and always a knife on me, if not two. But i was curious, how many of you online brother's have started your friends being more aware of the need to carry a gun, or at least be more aware of their surroundings. Take it easy. Take it hard. Take it anyway you can get it.

I've encouraged a few friends to take up handguns for SD. I haven't yet convinced any of them to get their CCW's, but I'm still working on it.:D

I have so far gotten 4 of my friends to get their CCW's, 3 of them to buy guns, and 2 of them to carry daily.

:)

I guess I can take credit for at least one friend packing a firearm~!:uhoh: :D

As a matter of fact, it was the only one he owned until just recently when
he broke down and bought his better half a S&W 642. What does he pack?
A 4" Smith & Wesson model 15 .38 Special that he bought NIB during the
winter of 1982~!:D

Well, in researching carrying, I convinced a buddy to A. get a pistol and B. Get his license. That long CCW class NC requires was much better with a friend.

Well, it was more like an aquaintence (spelling).

I had known this guy for a while and the Mother In-Law has been working with his wife for over 5 years. I had shot trap with him at the local Sportsman's club when I have been back on leave. I stopped by his house and asked him if I could put him down as a reference for my CCW, and he gave me a big long excuse of him not really knowing me and he didn't feel comfortable with it. No problem, I understood to a point, but I didn' think nothing of it really.

Anyway I get my three references, drop off the application and the day that the Sheriff calls and tells me that I can come by the office and pay for the permit, low and behold, who else is there paying for his CCW? Correct, it is the guy that I asked! He had basically submitted his application right within a day of me!

I have always chuckled about it. In fact that next weekend at the gun show I stopped by his table and while we were chatting he asked me what I carry and proceded to show me his little carry gun!

Not yet. So far the best I've done is turn a small army of unarmed college students onto shooting (most of them female;) ). A couple of the guys I've taken out have bought pistols and expressed interest in a CCW, and one of the females is thinking about buying something for self defense.

CCW is largely out for the crowd I hang out with since they're under 21 and living on a college campus that bans firearms. Though I live on the ND/MN border on the free side, most of the people I run with are MN residents and therefore inelligible for CCW in their home state.

Man can I agree! I just spent 3 long years in Fargo (it was my job, not the town) and now I have moved up to the Air Base at the 'Forks. I got my CCW while on leave in the middle of the move. It is a pain in the arse to "remember" which side of the river I am on if I am carrying.

Well I just got my CCW the other day and I haven't been able to carry yet (too much working overtime), but I know
of a lady that is in the process of getting a Divorce and now that she is living alone she wants to get a gun and start carrying.

So I am trying to help her out and show her the proper use of a handgun. I think it will be fun. :)

She also thought that I was just paranoid until I started showing her people on the street and she started reading about all the muggings in the paper.
