I just got my Stoeger Double Defense back from Stoeger Canada after i had both barrels go off on me (only when using 3 inch shells, 2 3/4s was flawless) there customer service was great, I took it too the range today and went through 35rnds without a hitch. The one thing I notice was it has a little rattle coming from the action, is this a problem or normal for Stoeger coach guns?

Interesting question. I've pondered buying one, so I'll watch for response.

Just a thought: you should ask Stoeger the same question, just for a crosscheck.

If the rattle is coming from the loose fore-end like mine was, a bit of bicycle inner tube rubber cemented inside the for-end took care of it. I used Barges leather cement. You may beed two layers if it is very loose. A pice of rubber the size if a poker chip is about right.

The forearm does make a little noise but the slight rattle I'm talking about is coming from the action. It shoots fine, I just wanted to make sure everything is alright with it. I maybe a little paranoid since I had all my initial troubles with the 3 inch shells.

I had the rattle in the forearm too, and just set the latch a little deeper into the wood with some careful shaving with a carving knife. No rattles at all now. Sounds like something is loose that shouldn't be on yours.

My stoeger condor rattles in the action as well but only after the gun is fired when its cocked its quiet

No rattling problems with mine. I did learn that firing both barrels from the hip is a really, really bad idea.

^ Oh, man, I can imagine.

There's a story there, but a video would be much better.

I think you should repeat it and film it, just to help others
understand why they shouldn't do it.

It would be such a great service to shot gunners everywhere.

:p

Well if its any concolation I watched some guys load a 20ga in a 12 ga, then load a 12ga 2 3/4" shell in after, and remotely fire it. I think it was on Guns and Ammo TV on Sportsmans Channel. The gun was not harmed at all. They were hoping to display a catastrophic failure such as the barrel blowing up but it didn't. It was fine. They showed the barrel and it didn't even bulge. Now these were 2 unfired shells shot in the same barrel! That kind of worksmanship and metal will have me buying one......Rattle or not!!!

P.S........Dont try this at home!
