I have a Colt Umarex M4 .22 Ops model. I believe the front sight is canted because I adjusted my rear sight all the way to one side and it is still shooting off to the left of point of aim. Lately I have been using a vortex strikefire sight, but it bothers me that I can't switch to irons.
Is there a way to fix this myself or would you recommend sending it back for warranty work?

Another vote for send it back.

If it's out of warranty there may be DIY fixes, but in warranty just send it back.

I'm with sansone here. I own two rifles that have the front sight off to one side and it bugs me too. Luckily I can adjust the rear sight to get it to shoot POA, but don't we all like things to "line up" when shooting? It's part of the mind set.

So yep; "send it back". We need to keep the gun makers honest after all.

How much trouble/expense is it to send stuff back for warranty work? It's only a .22, and I have a real AR anyway. I also have the S&W 15-22.

Contact them first, but be firm about getting a shipping label if they don't offer one. Their mistake, their dime, my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. I've never shipped a gun anywhere, so I really don't want to go through the trouble. Maybe I'll give it a try.

You know what? I've never sent a gun back to the factory either and for the same reasons that you haven't. I don't know how it works, how to package it, and who to take it to and if it's legal. When a gun breaks I take it to a local gunsmith, but I read lots of times about folks "sending them back" so it must work.

Can send the upper back but before you do try making some measurements and determine if the front post is indeed canted.

Two things to look at.

Is the barrel seated straight and flush in the receiver and is the front sight post centered and straight.

I have seen front sight post that have been hit and knocked off center before; they stand tall so a little force in the right place can sometimes push them out of front and center especially if they are slightly lose to begin with. You can loosen them yourself and center or take a rubber mallet and a few well place knocks recenter. It is not that hard to do but the first thing is be sure the barrel was mated to the receiver correctly. If none of the above sounds good to you just send the upper back to them with the return number/label they will give you and good luck.
