AR 22LR conversion kits

mine is the older ceiner kit. it works great. if i were buying now, i'd probably get the cmmg though.

I run a Spike's Tactical conversion unit in my Colt HBAR Match and it has run flawlessly from day one. It costs about 200.00, but that includes the Black Dog magazine. Since I got it I've put it in several other ARs and they have all run without a glitch.

I went with a Spike's kit because of the chrome plating and o-ring chamber seals. It has been great.

I run a Tactical Solutions AR15 upper in .22LR.

It runs very reliably with the Federal bulk packs and works well for Steel Challenge. The controls are very much like an AR, though there are a few minor differences. It's a great product and after having run a few bulk packs through it I'm very pleased with it. The only caveat I have is that it's a good idea to run a bore snake through it after a few hundred rounds.

Received my CMMG .22LR conversion kit with gray 27 round mag, plus two Black Dog 27 rounders for extra fun, from Botach Tactical Com today via UPS.

BLUF:
CMMG conversion +1 mag = $189.95
Two Black Dogs @ 19.95
10% discount
UPS was 16.70
$223 and change.
I'm happy.
Your mileage may vary!

Sorry to be so long winded.

I hate to talk bad about any manufacturer but I would 100% not go with Ceiner. I ordered one from Midway and had great luck with it up to about 500 rounds and then it wouldn't extract. Since they have a 1 year warranty I sent it to Ceiner and it was delivered Feb 24th. I still haven't heard anything about it and according to the warranty statement in the manual if I want to find out anything I have to mail them a check for $10. The warranty page is no longer available on their site but used to list the same information.

I noticed that they have the regular kits in stock now but when they were backordered you had to get on the waiting list or you could pay an extra $50 and that would bump you up to the top of the list. Pretty shabby way to do business in my opinion and I will NEVER recommend a Ceiner kit.

A friend and I saw someone at the NRA range using a Spikes kit, so we talked and checked out the quality of it and it completely blows the Ceiner kit away. He ended up ordering one from Spikes and it has performed flawlessly after at least 1000 rounds.

Greetings,

Thank you all for your answers. I have been on Internet since the beginning of the 90s and I am always amazed of the information people are giving around.

A question: Is the POI is about the same with the 22 and your 223 rounds? I understand it is not the same, but how "off" is it?

Thank you

First of all, the sights are mounted on the upper, and each upper is zeroed separately, so the issue of changing sights when changing uppers doesn't enter the picture.

Secondly, the .22 LR has a different trajectory compared to the .223. You really can't expect hits at, say 300 yards with a .22 LR, as you can from a .223.

Greetings,

Sorry, I asked badly my question :banghead:

When you use the conversion kit, you use the same upper, so the same optic/sights. At 25 and 100 yards, how much off are you compared to 223?

I found out that with my 223 in 55 grains and 62 grains, I am off about 1 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

Thank you

Using the same upper zeroed at 50yds shooting a 50gr VMAX slug I'm probably averaging about 2" low and 3" to the right when going to CCI 40gr Mini-Mags. The groups open up quite a bit as well, going from the size of a quarter to about a tennis ball with the 22LR. This is from a 7" RRA 1 in 9" twist barrel with an Aimpoint and 3x magnifier.

I have a 10.5" Colt 1 in 12" barrel that I will probably be testing out this weekend, let me know if you'd like a range report.

Hope this helps.
